I'm trying to find out which micro 4/3 cameras have a built in flash that you can bounce back at the ceiling with your finger ( a feature I love ), à la Sony A6xxx

No Olympus Epl body seems to offer the feature, and with Panasonic I only found the GX7 so far and the GX9

The Lumix G85 and G95 also have a built-in flash. I had the G85 and like you, repointed it with my finger while shooting.

The popup flash in the GM1 does this.

With Olympus, any body with the 4th hot shoe contact will take the tiny FL-LM3, which tilts and swivels. Needs more than a fingertip.

Small Olympus bodies tended to have an Auxiliary Port that can accept an EVF or FL-LM1. You can’t tilt the FL-LM1 up that far.

The following models I have can do it:
  • GF3 & GF9 (a.k.a. GX850), so I guess all GFs could do it including GF20 aka GX880. Not sure on the GF variant G100/G100D.
  • GX85 (& GX7 as you know).
Gs might not: G1 & G85 don't. I guess the other Gs (G3~G7) or the higher end G9/G9-II might not.

G9 and GH series cameras don't have a built in flash (neither does GX8)
Yes, this has been completely forgotten on my mind, these models do not have built in flash, same as GX1 :-) .
G85/G95/G100 (and as far I as I know the other G1-G7) have built in flash but it can't tip back and bounce
I am sure on G85/95, not sure on G100. Thank you for your confirmation.
GX7, GX85 and GX9 can bounce built in flash with the finger pull method - works great! 👍 It's the only thing I miss about my GX85 compared to my G95.

Yes, GM1 can do this

But the GM5, with that tiny hot-shoe flash that comes with it, cannot. It's fixed.

Your question about tilting flash is an excellent question. You've got me wondering if my E-M10ii built-in flash can tilt. Does anyone know? I'll have to check my canera tomorrow.

For now I search Google, but find nothing.

I remember doing it, but at my age, the memory plays tricks :-).
I traded the G85 in to pay for a PL12-60. I did a quick search on YouTube and found a quick mod to allow the G85 flash to tilt.

No, it does not tilt.
Well then, I guess the E-M10ii built-in flash is only good for fill flash outdoors on sunny days, which is what I'd use it for. If I need flash for my main light source, I'll use a clip-on external flash.

Wow — that is an awesome, super-simple hack for the G85/G95 cameras to allow bounce flash! I'm going to try it myself. If anyone else is interested, here is a video on how to do it.

Thank you!

You may go 2 ways:

1) (most efficient) a tiny compact model with tilt possibility:

-Oly FL-300R , 97g, GN 28 (smallest, but very expensive like other Oly made models)

-Meike MK-320, 150 g, GN 32 (much cheaper, I bought mine second hand)

2) use a small tilted mirror at the front of the built-in flash.

You may use hot-shoe as a mount for such improvised device - there are small diffusers for built-in flashes mounted similar way. You may cannibalise the general idea. Here's an example with hot-shoe mounting frame exposed at one of the images:

EDIT: From Your other thread I can see they claim Oly FL-LM3 does work with EM10 II, which solves most of Your problems, I guess. They are probably reasonably priced on after market

Thanks a lot , very interesting

It’s possible with the GX80 after you remove a small screw that otherwise prevents the flash from being tilted upwards. I have done that on my camera. I suspect that it would be possible to do the same mod on the other cameras with a pop up flash.

I have a little Olympus FL-LM3 flash that I've never used. It came with an E-M5ii that I no longer own. Hopefullly I can find the FL-LM3 flash.

On the GX80/GX85 you don't need to remove anything to tilt back and bounce. It allows you do so straight out of the box. No modifications needed.
I have done that on my camera.
Are you sure you're talking about the GX80/GX85 and not a different model?
