Fringer (Canon) EF-GFX adapter --- Post Full Resolution Here ---

I started to walk around, as part of rehabilitation exercises recovering from my first confirmed COVID19 'conviction'.

Of course, these were taken locally in Japan. ;-)

Not as sharp as its RF version wide open, not well corrected as well. But no complaint, if taking advantage of 1 stop is what I need.

EF 17 TSE: Midtown Plaza from Fujifilm Square

Of course, you can see the limit of this lens: Midtown Plaza is only 800 feet. Shift 12 (if I recall correctly).

All hand held. With tripod maybe better.

Thanks for sharing these samples. Center for shot #1 is sharp at f/1.2. Was the IBIS on for shots #2 and #3? The reason I am asking is because both shots look a bit "blurry".

As for the TS lens, it seems to be pretty consistent with what I have seen with non native lens. Center performance is very good (excellent) but corner performance is too often mediocre. I very much see the appeal of the Fringer adapter when shooting portraits using wide aperture. I will try to post more samples as well (currently solo parenting as the significant other is in Kenya for a work trip).

Please have a ramen in Jiyūgaoka for me. I remembered my little adventure in this neighborhood. Got a black sesame based ramen for 900 yens or so. Took about 15-20 min to make, and it was the best Ramen I ever had. The chef cooked the meat in front of me, and ramen were fresh. I missed Tokyo. :(

Cheers,

Max

Should be on, maybe my hands or shutter. I think the lens AF lock is bit tricky, and very thin DOF as well.

Agree.

Take care, no hurry...

Welcome back, spring is pretty with Cherry Blossom. ;-)

I was there during Spring 2019. While I was visiting Matsumoto*, I found out that I was becoming a dad :-O. The other half was in Zambia. What a "weird day" it was!

*I still have the memory of the hostel we were staying in, less than 5 min from the Matsumoto castle, the whole city is surrounded by mountains. Love this place.

In any event, yes I shall return to Japan with the family once the little one is old enough to appreciate long trip!

One of the safest and cleanest place I have had the chance to visit.

Cheers,

Max

I see. Hanging on there! I knew it was not easy to handle a baby alone. I did so for quite a while. Try to enjoy it instead. ;-)

Well my wife would love to hear that! ;-) She is a Japanese.

Cheers,
Best,

Hi guys,

I attached the following sample that I captured during a visit at the National Portrait Gallery . The painting is People in the Sun by Hopper. The sample was captured using the whole sensor but I cropped out the wood frame.

Shot handheld (standing) at 1/15s, f/4, ISO 500, +1 EV

Overall, sharpness is good considering the it was shot at 1/15 ( I think the Tamron is rated at 3.5 stops, but I would need to double check).

Considering that the GFX 50R has no IBIS, the lens stabilization was very effective, and you have a steady hand ! The far corners can be out of focus when this lens is not closed far enough, but in this sample it seems very consistent.

It's quite difficult to get a good copy of this now. :-(

I am trying to figure out how to remove the baffle of 70-200f4/L, the non-IS version. It was the first L lens I bought. :-)

Oh. I did not know. I bought that lens a few years ago, and I always like the rendering even on Full Frame. A rather smooth bokeh. Actually more pleasing than the GF 45 2.8 lens which is more clinical.

Good luck. It should not be too difficult. Alpshiker has done it I think.

I bought a used Tamron 45mm in 2022 but had some mechanical issues, so I sold it back to the store. No luck so far. Tamron already discontinued it years ago.

Good to know! Thank you!

You are a modern theif. Wonderful handheld.
Haha. I love painting ;) I feel lucky to be able to scrutinize such artworks on the weekly basis. You can see how the paint brushes were applied on the canvas.

Hail to the Thief! (I think Radiohead will approve 😂)

Thanks for saying this. I thought I have the only one who didn't like GF 45mm f2.8 that much. Now if Fuji were to make 45mm f1.7, I would in the line to buy it.

It has been a bit cold and windy around here, but we still took the little one in Rock Creek Park, which is walking distance to our home.

Kiddo did well, and scoots the whole way. I carried my GFX camera along with the Tamron SP 45 mm f/1.8 (and Fringer adapter, aka the little beast). Great combo! Even though I am still testing that combo at different apertures with different subjects, I feel now pretty confident that lens is worth having for any GFX shooters who likes the 35 mm eq. (FF) field of view.

I took that shot wide open (i.e., f/1.8), and I found the results more than satisfactory. Decent amount of sharpness (center) and good subject isolation. Overall, I am happy that I have not sold my lens while I was selling my Canon gear.

PS: I will try to post another sample taken at smaller aperture later tonight.
