For you Limiteds fans who might have missed this (I did):

It's been rainy and windy for days where I am, so I'm doing some photo-related reading and G.A.S. bargain hunting. Did you know that Limited lenses have "an attractive exterior design that creates the desire for possession?" Indeed.

Thank you for the heads-up.

It is amazing lenses that deserve a special site--

Owners of this lens may find the content under the heading "Message" interesting, where the philosophy behind every aspect of the design of the lens is discussed.

For as long as I can remember Pentax marketing has been slightly eccentric. Or very Japan-orientated. Not sure which.

The more I learn about this lens, the more interesting it gets. The site calls it the first in a new series of Limiteds. I hope that's true and we get another one soon. Yodobashi did a little field review:

LOL. I was about to post some sarcastic reply to "attractive exterior design" when I remembered, Ummm... I purchased a Nikon Zfc because it was small and looked good. So there may be something to it... :-D

Love my SMC DA Limited primes. I'd buy a new set of DA Limited primes if Ricoh updated them with weather sealing. Until then, my current Limiteds will carry on.

If I ever bought a K-1 series, the D FA 21mm F2.4 Limited would be the first lens I'd get, followed by the DFA* lenses.

The copyright message at the bottom says the page isn't new. I'd be delighted if the same people are working on more lenses - it's a bit of surprise that there were as many as six employees :-)

I did like bit on Omomuki as it applies especially to the 21. I've bought two of Pentax new introductions. I wanted the DFA* 85mm before they even introduced it, I expected it to be expensive, heavy and good. And it is. I had a clear idea how I would use it, and that's how I've used it - high expectations met, with no surprises.
The 21 just ignited my curiosity, I didn't have a clear idea how I'd use it, but I thought it would be interesting to own. Less expensive than the 85 but by no means cheap it's been a great surprise. I use it in ways I wouldn't have predicted when I bought it, the quality is great and it has that same special feel that the other limited lenses have but with modern AF, electronic aperture, and weather sealing. If they announced something like a 124mm f/2.1 (some equally unconventional tele in the 100-150mm range) I'd want to own that.

I'm a MFT-shooter and even I feel it. Why do you think I am lurking in this corner of dpreview? ;-)

Lol, you're in the danger zone - buy one and you might want them all. Happy to answer any questions about the Limiteds in my gear list.
