I purchased my V1 at sears 7 months ago at a very cheap price ($534) since i managed to bargain the unknowledgable sales people. In addition, i got 10% off the price matched and another 10% for opening and using the sears card. oh... also zero finance for a year was nice...

I'm hoping i can pull of the same deal at sear again, perhaps for $750 if the camera retails for $999

this wont work at all sear, i got rejected by 7 other sears in my area until i found the right salesman/manager that wanted the quick commision.. i think i'll go back to him..

how bout you guys?

but Sears has changed now and they do NOT price match only other stores around them. It's a bummer.

This is true that they will only price match a brick and morter establishment. But 4 months ago they priced match Dell for me. I told them that they had a store in the same state, but nothing nearby. They agreed to price match, plus an additional 10% off the difference. So it really depends on the salesman. It never hurts to try, you never know what you might get? I just hope they will carry the 828!

hmmm when i went to get my V1, i told them my friend got his V1 at another sears. the salesman simply entered a promo code in his computer register and gave me the price i gave him along with 10%, he didn't even ask for any proof, i could've made up a random price. I called him at home and asked him over the phone if he would match the (reasonably made up) price, he said yes and i made my way towards sear, an hour later i was home with the V1, i think this guy will do the same thing again, fingers crossed.

So you viisted a total of 8 Sears stores before you found an ignorant salesman. Have you figured in your time and transportation costs when calculating the actual price of that V1.
(My wife says I'm crabby today -- what do you think?).

-I got my 707 from Sears too, and upgraded to a 717 when we were having all those "Syndromes". You are quite right about the difference one finds with different Sears stores,--some have an accomodating attitude and some definitely do not. I don't expect to have any problems or "Syndromes" with the 828 when it finally arrives, but with something so incredibly complex as the 828 I wouldn't think of not having the insurance that the MRA provides. It is an -on the spot- replacement if something is wrong. The cost is c. 15% over the selling price, but in my opinion (Excuse me - IMO
worth every bit of it.-

When I last talked with Sears' buying department I was told that the 828 would be on Sears' Web in December, but not in their stores until January. And at that time I didn't get a "Definite" on January, but that is when I think it will be there.

It has been a long wait, looking at the forum every day for possible news of the arrival date, putting up with the Canon Trolls , and waiting,--waiting.

However, the upside of this, for those (Not me) who will be looking for next years model, you will have much less time to wait.

i didnt visit different sears, i called them first to see if they had it, if they did, i asked if they would match my suggested price.. they obviously didnt unil phone call number 8... luck was on my side, phone calls totalled to about no more than 20 mins worthof hold time on all 8 stores, i saved over $150+ , to me, it was worth it. if you're rich and don't care, go buy it at full price.

FYI, i got the idea from these forums. people on these forums have successfully done the same thing all over the country, i tried it and it worked, lucky me
