This guy vents about OMS

What makes him the definitive world expert???

Nobody said he is. He’s just venting issues I think a lot of people think.

He’s a pretty fair reviewer and loves loves the G9 II but doesn’t understand the size/weight thing.

He often speaks the truth, one of my favourites is his view on monopods.

If you've seen his other videos, he vents about everything possible.

I have seen several of this guys videos before - used to be posted at 43rumors when the site had nothing to report. At first I could not stand him and his creepy style. Over time I realized his schtick is parodying the camera community. So now I look at him as simply comic relief. He always makes some good points but the reason to watch is mostly for the fun of it :-D

This guy likes to vent about every camera company. This is how he gets his views. You can only take him for his entertainment value.

So far OM System has released some very solid products. The OM-1 is a great camera. It is an improvement over the previous E-M1 MkIII is all ways. The OM-5 is a great little camera. The new processor has improved several things over the previous E-M5 MkIII. The 8-25/4.0 is a great lens. The 40-150/4.0 is a great lens. The 20/1.4 is a good lens. I have all the above and I have been impressed with each. So far I have been pleased with OM System since taking over from Olympus.

He ain’t wrong…

So far nobody has answered your simple question :) .

In my view, his view has a lot of merit.

Separate from the comedic element of the channel, he provides better assessments than many 'serious' review channels.

For camera bodies, if we assume the OM1 was really the last carryover Olympus model, then another innovative body has not been released by OM Systems since. The opposite of innovative is the OM5.

Looking at Panasonic, while the G9ii is a natural evolution from the G9i, it too is not particularly innovative. PDAF has been around for years and they are very late to the party.

There is no significant current advantage in going with MFT in the FFE 20mm-100mm range as there are better FF and APSC options in that range without sacrificing much in size, IBIS or cost and gaining a lot in ISO performance.

MFT still excels though in the longer focal lengths (FFE 200mm and above) for nature media and also for macro work (FFE 120mm-180mm).

While I have quite a bit of MFT gear, unless OM Systems or Panasonic releases a truly small innovative camera body in the next 6 months, I'll be looking elsewhere in that FFE 20mm-100mm (i.e. MFT 10mm-50mm) range. Will always keep MFT for the long stuff though.

Thanks for finally getting on topic instead of being defensive about a brand you love!

This forum is really something, sometimes.

His point is that the OM1 was a 100% Olympus product, pretty much already completed and ready to go.

The OM5 wasn’t a major upgrade and the new Tough camera is really nothing.
My understanding is that it takes 3 to 5 years to get a camera from design to market. So the OM-5 is basically an Olympus R&D product. Like the difference between the the E-M1 MkII to E-M1 MkIII the difference between the E-M5 MkII and the OM-5 is more a refinement that the processor can give. There are a lot of improvement. Nothing major but would you expect major new things in what is now the entry level camera. So far after 6 or so months of use I am really enjoying the OM-5. Like wise with using the OM-1 for around 18 months it is a joy to use.

OM System has done a good job of getting Olympus R&D products to market in the time period of their corporate restructing.

Sorry, but this is just a bunch of really inane whining, by a guy who looks like he lives in his mother's basement.

I wasn’t going to watch it, still haven’t but you made me look to see. You’re correct LOL.

Another video of someone who thinks they know that the OM1 was already developed by Olympus. Of course, this individual, like all the others is clueless, they have no actual information, but hope you don't notice.

The choice for Olympus was to simply close the camera division, as they did with the film DSLRs, or spin it off to JIP in the hope they could salvage the mFTs camera division. Don't blame JIP for the Olympus corporation's failure to be able to market cameras. They were always good at camera design, but poor at marketing.
