Excellent minimalist photo. I don't think i would have seen this myself.
I’ve always thought these are very interesting creatures. Surprisingly never seen one in the wild. These photos are from a very quiet day at the Marine Nature Study Area in Oceanside NY. While this location is frequently fabulous, on this day I had a nice walk in nature and took a few photos. As I was finishing my walk, an adult yellow crowned night heron flew into a tree right above me. I placed my tripod on the ground and moved around shooting hand held looking for an opening to take the last photo of this set.

2) It was off a moment after I rotated my camera to vertical
3) Adult Yellow Crowned Night Heron
Comments and suggestions welcome,

20s? I assume a tripod? If so, do you always run with one in the evening?

10 seconds and I used a bench to place the camera, so no tripod. Normally I wouldn't bring the camera at night when running, but earlier that evening I saw that the moon would be located a nice place with regards to the church.20s? I assume a tripod? If so, do you always run with one in the evening?Running past the church and the moon.

Beautiful Color!!!!
And well-worth a large print for the living room wall!!!!!Beartooth was closed again this morning. Finally got to speak to the Rangers. There were 5' drifts up there. Apparently cleared now. We'll FINALLY hit the Beartooth tomorrow, Red Gods willin'.
We did our own off-road tour of the Custer-Gallatin and Absaroka wilderness areas today. Highest mountain in MT - 12,799 ft. Long hard day. Got back to camp late and dead tired. I did one photo as a teaser. Will do more, plus stories, when I can.
