GoPro Hero 12 Coming September 6

More importantly, you have failed to explain how the one 360 camera is able to avoid focusing with a 1" sensor. I suspect it is with an extreme fisheye lens, suitable for 360 video but not for normal video. Again, no non-360 camera in the history of the world with a 1" sensor avoids having the necessity of focusing.
You obviously didn't even look at the URL of the DPR review of the One R 1" model I posted. It's not a 360 camera:

I don't work for Insta360, so maybe you should shoot them an email asking how they managed such a feat that you're declaring is impossible. I'm not obligated to explain anything simply because you demand it - you're saying an action camera with a form factor similar to the Hero cannot have a 1" sensor and avoid focusing. All I'm saying is that Insta360 has proven that statement to be false.

As it's 9/6, the Hero 12 has officially been announced, and as expected, the leaked specs were spot on. However, there are some gems - the Hero 12 does appear to have a bluetooth mic input as we were discussing above, and a timecode sync feature, both of which are very cool. My assessment is that it's a respectable but underwhelming update with most new features that likely could have been enabled in the Hero 11 with a software update. IMO the best new feature is the longer battery life. And it also doesn't hurt that I can continue to use all the accessories, mounts, lens covers, and mods I've acquired over the years, all of which I have way too many of.

In the end, I'll probably still buy one as I'm a bit of an action cam whore with way too much disposable income. :)

yet has the ability to remove the camera and transfer it to a new mount much more quickly than GoPro's current system. Have you seen/tried any of these? They work fantastically well.
I haven't used them, but from what I've seen and read they're basically just plastic clips holding the cameras on. Fine for casual amateur use, but won't impress a health and safety inspector.
Worth pointing out that in a professional setting moving cameras from mount to mount fast is far less important than demonstrable safety.

I don't know about DJI's mounting system, but as I own an Insta360 Go 3 I can assure you that the clips securing the camera to the mount are NOT plastic. When you attach the camera to the magnetic baseplate the clips on the side hold on to the camera VERY securely. The camera isn't going anywhere. In fact, Insta360 has a magnetic/clip baseplate with flip-down GoPro ears that is as or even more robust than GoPro's OEM offerings.

True, Insta360's older Go 2 model didn't have these clips, and it would be much more difficult putting faith in that mounting system. But Insta360 has fixed that problem.

.

...luckily I tend to use about 3 GoPros at the same time. But the widest angle views have an outside the racecar mount...with accompanying better GPS reception potential. Hmm.

...it's a 4 way, so that many different systems are compatible. Sticks out under the camera tho.

Their specs now include ambient temperature and moving air, so the non-action type's experiences may vary,

...were being used so they ditched GPS.

Umm...I don't edit motorsports stuff using the Quik app lol.

Bluetooth for both earphones and mics, though no details - not clear as to using wireless earphones as mics (binaural stereo!).

No details on either.

It is not now at all clear what HDR means , given the GP-Log option for "pro's'".

GP-Log refers to the gamma curve, and LUTs are mentioned, but not clear whether they are in camera.

Some hint that HDR video may not work with 5.3K60p, only 5.3K30p and 4K60p and below. Confirmed. So, may not be one of the video standards, which is just a gamma (log) and color space (REC2020).

Actually, it is not "coming" Sept 6; it will be available September 13th, except of course, to those YouTube influencers.

It will be formally announced September 6, with, as can be seen. press releases today.
