Hi all,

Would like to set up a DIY photo booth for a wedding. I have remote triggers and godox flashes so all fine there for the guests to fire their own shots.

I would like to have my ipad pro tethered to the Z6ii so that they can preview the image immediately to make it more fun/interactive. Any easy way to do this?

Bonus: if people can email the jpeg to them via the app it would be f A!

Thanks!

Have you tested the SnapBridge app?

Not sure it is the most user friendly, but you can configure it to remotely take pictures and automatically download the pictures so you can review them immediately.

Reliability of snapbridge in general is not their main characteristic. Would prefer a tethered (usb c) set up that will just work.

Capture One has a mobile (iPhone/iPad) version.

Good point, but not sure if the capture one UI is suitable for partying people... interesting non the less.

I’m not sure it really matters if it’s just for review, it’s not super complex unless you want to use those tools - once setup the images will just come into an album, showing a large version of the latest image and thumbnails of what’s been taken. There’s the standard iOS share options as well for email etc.

Anyway, there are other options too, like Cascable.

In case anyone else is interested... CASCABLE was amazing!

  • Connect either via the camera's wifi or via a good usb-c to usb-c cable
  • You can define a linked connection, specifying the source (xqd or sd slot) to what destination (on the ipad or on an external drive or sd card mounted to ipad via an adapter)
  • You can specify if you want to copy raw/raw&jpeg/jpeg
  • You can have a preview when you shoot and that goes away after 4 or 8 seconds (can be set)
  • You have a grid view of all the shots taken and your guests can share selected images from the grid via any way (e.g. airdrop).
Seriously, camera on a tripod and on camera flash with a remote trigger added sooooo much fun at the wedding!!!

I was taking random groups every now and then and was making them jump, etc, and the preview made them understand how the flash freezes the action and then they were just improvising!
