Who's everyone's favourite Photographers (if they have one)?

I don't spend a massive amount of time studying the work of others but I have a couple.

First one is a current Fuji ambassador and probably one of the most creative Photographers ive personally seen, he is called Tom Baumgaertel or beware_my_fuji on Instagram. His use of custom WB and multi shot is genius.

Secondly I love Ernst Haas, it was this image that made me stand up and take notice of his work.

Ive since bought the following book, and I just love his compositions and the colour tones in his images, I kind of wish the world still looked they way it did back then, and the cars were still as cool.

Let me know who inspires you.

Pick just one ? Sebastiao Salgado hands down.

People whose work I find inspiring :

- Alan Schaller and Marc Riboud with black and white in mind

- Harry Gruyaert and Fred Herzog with colour in mind

Obviously many more but just wanted to point some probably less known photographers (aside of Salgado of course..) whose work made me gasp the first time I found out of it.

Ernst Haas, great photographer! I have that New York book and The American West. I also like, in no particular order: William Eggleston, Stephen Shore, Robert Adams, Alex Webb, Fred Herzog, Harry Gruyaert, Lee Friedlander, Wim Wenders, Alex Soth, Daidō Moriyama ... I'm probably forgetting someone but I have a lot of photobooks of their work.

In The Netherlands there are some nice ones but i keep forgetting many names.

Erwin Olaf has interesting work, and Ed van der Elsken, Anton Corbijn.

I often read Ming Thein's blog, which is quite inspirational.

  1. Harry Gruyaert
  2. Garry Winogrand

William Eggleston, Stephen Shore, Teju Cole, Saul Leiter, Lee Friedlander, Gerry Johansson, Guido Guidi and Luigi Ghirri are my absolute favorites but I have many, many more too.

Thanks all, this is epic.... lots of names for me to work through and check out. Appreciate this.

I also have a soft spot for Joe Cornish.. purely because he shoots in my area of birth and champions a much under appreciated region of England.

You know what John, ive obviously heard of Saul Leiter but I wasnt aware of his work, someone described a pic of mine as being his style and now I know why. If ever there was a motivation to get out in the rain and shoot, it's that.

Im checking the rest of these out, along with everyone else' suggestions.

Sebastiao Salgado, he loves a dramatic sky shot:) thats about 70% of my own photos, just 10% of the skill in my case lol.

Ed van der Elsken`s Love on the left bank is one of my all time fav photo books.

He was very much into selfies and vlogging and was decades ahead of his time.

I often read Ming Thein's blog, which is quite inspirational.
