Guess the ZF isn't coming any time soon...

Only announcement they have lined up is for something non-camera related.

Maybe I should just get the DF? (I want full frame and the Z fc was so close to perfect and size other than being APS-C).

I'd give it a little more time. I bet it'll be announced this month or next and available this year.

I just think it'd be too easy for them to make and sell, and there is demand for it. So why wouldn't they take our money?

But if they want to keep everyone happy, it seems like they'll also have to announce a Z6iii at about the same time. I'm still quite pleased with my original Z6, so what do I know ...

If I had to hazard a guess if they were going to announce the Zf at all, it might be August 17th. In a recent Grays of Westminster video, about 2:30 they talk about some sort of post Nikon made about announcing a release date to the 180-600mm lens.

The 180-600mm has already been announced, but no formal release date has been actually given by Nikon. I doubt a full press release about the release date of an already-announced product will really be all that newsworthy, so the Zf, or really anything, could be lumped in together on this date.

Pure speculation, of course.

*Edit: apparently my thoughts are in direct contradiction of NikonRumors expectations of the next announcement.

I bet it'll be announced month after next month or two months after that or available next year. :-P

That NR post is about next week, the 17th would be the week after that. I also felt like it was weird for them to do 2 separate dates for a camera and lens, but haven't they done that recently?

Looks like you are getting poor translation. On July 31, Nikon Japan specified that the 180-600 will start shipping on August 17: https://www.nikon-image.com/products/info/2023/0731.html

Check out the end of that URL. It is the year 2023 and 07 31 for month and day.

I hope you're correct. Outside of English and basic French or Spanish I rely on Google Translate.

An August 17th release/ship date would be greatly preferred to me, anyway.

Although it wasn't a single week, Nikon squeezed the Z8 in between lenses with only a few weeks between. I suppose it wouldn't be too crazy to shorten the buffer time.

That said, Google Translate may have given me poor information about the 17th

What two separate dates? The 180-600 is just a shipping date. Nikon doesn’t make announcements when a previously introduced lens is shipped.

I’m sure Nikon is furiously fixing strap lugs in preparation of the announcement.

Given my track record, I'm betting the announcement comes just past your return window if you buy the DF. :-D

Well if we look at the timelines..

The Z6ii was registered in Jul 2020, came out Oct 2020.

The Z9 was registered Jul 21, came out Oct 21.

The Z fc was registered Jun 21, came out Jul 21.

The Z30 was registered Mar 22, came out Aug 22.

This camera was registered this June. There's a couple of outliers but if we follow the same rough patterns, this thing will probably come out September, late August at best.

It's only a week or so.. let's wait. Let's hope it's not just a repackaged Z5

All Nikon Rumours, Sony Alpha Rumours and the fools on YT have proven is that Nikon has got even better at keeping its secrets AND in trapping fools who leak.

So -- wait a few weeks and see.

One problem with that: recently Nikon has been "shipping" on different dates in different countries. As much as two weeks different in some cases.

Perhaps in some cases, but most recently the Z8 and 70-180mm/f2.8 were both available worldwide on the same day or at most within a day or two.

The intro of the Zf was done on August 2nd at pro Nikon dealers this week.

They had to sign a NDA but some things are clear now :

- will be shipped this year

-will be available,as body and combo with lens : no new lens will be launched however for this camera.

-not a stacked sensor : 25-ish Mpxl : it will be a NEW sensor , so no Z6ii sensor.

-the body feels extremely well in the hand and quality impression is top notch , much better than Zfc

So Nikon is debuting a whole new sensor for the Zf? I guess I'd really like to know how 'new' the sensor will really be.

If the term 'new' is used a little liberally, a reworked Z6/Z6ii sensor that is adjusted for expeed 7 might be 'new'. If this is a "from-the-ground-up" new design, it's hard for me to believe they'd first introduce this in a fashion body camera.

I'd hope so for the premium over the Zfc.

Everything is pretty believable to me, except the sensor depending how 'new' is used.
