A6700 preorder B&H, Adorama question

Here in Canada the release date is also Aug. 3rd. Hopefully some from the USA will chime in and reply to you.
I pre-ordered from my local camera store and they told me I will receive a call on that day for pick up.

I think "everyone" would like that to happen. Sony will have been producing and shipping product to the distributors within a country or region. That gets allocated through some business plan. They've got to spread the initial production for worldwide distribution and release.
It's not impossible for a high demand product to sell out early stock and then they catch up with ongoing production.

Exactly, that must be why so many on this forum are saying they don't like the A6700 so they can put others off and get their one sooner.
I think the experience will vary across the world. In Ireland I've been told stock will be allocated out of the Netherlands at the start of August, only after that allocation do I get an idea on how long I have to wait after that. So if anyone gets a A6700 on August 3rd, count your self very lucky.

When you order at B&H are in a queue, so when your time is up, your charge card will be charged and then shipped. Could be on next re-supply. They will usually update the ship dates if there is a sell out.
But the A6700 is going to sell out unlike other Sony recent releases.
If your charge card fails, then it would be delayed until you resolve that issue.

Nope. My card was charged last week when I ordered it at B&H.

That's weird. They usually don't charge until the item(s) is shipped or near ship.

Ah! Sounds like a pre-charge authorization and not the actual charge itself. Go into your CC account and see if it's a pre-charge hold or the actual charge.

that is what my BH preorder says...and for my r7 it said the same thing for two more months, unless I got it with the kit lens...
So consistent! ;-)
My order went from backorder to in progress... So it is moving forward, still no shipping confirmation.

My B&H order page says "New Item - Coming Soon, Will begin shipping 2023-08-03".

I wonder if they'll get through the pre-orders before Friday night? We don't really know where demand is and initial supply, etc.

Hurray, it's very lonely here as an A6700 owner, it seems like only Europeans have their cameras at this stage.
