I'll begin with a recent photo at dusk with the dp1Merrill in an outdoor performance amphitheater, hand-held, seated, pointing at the intricate wooden roof. I shot daylight wb but changed to auto wb in the processed version. ISO500 1/50 f/2.8 The auto wb version is color adjusted to G7.5A33. The out-of-camera JPEG isn't too bad, but I adjusted the processed version to the stage lights and is more realistic as to the wood color and lightness. No de-noise used or other editing outside of SPP. I'll post more normal photos in the thread later in the week.

The DP Merrill and SD1 Merrill cameras can handle high ISO values when there is plenty of light and there was obviously enough light in your shots as evidenced by the shutter speed used.

You can happily shoot at even higher ISOs in bright daylight (if you don't mind losing some DR).

Capture all the light and colour!

Had fun playing with grandsons' dino sand quarry with the dp1Merrill

and the dp3Quattro.

Both photos uploaded are unedited JPEGs straight from cameras, but I do have + one setting for in-cam JPEGs on both cameras set for contrast, saturation, sharpness. Both unedited and edited versions are online at flickr. IMHO in good daylight the detail captured by both cameras is actually rather similar, slightly more by the Quattro. I had to stand in slightly different spots to match up the two cameras, wide dp1Merrill vs tele dp3Quattro.

Enjoy! ;-)

If you can see the light, you can photograph it

I have this set up in an unused room, so it's quick and easy to do.

With a rail this time, so no corrections are needed after stacking.

Glorious focus-stack images as usual, David.

Who needs medium format for flowers...?

Thanks Vitée.

I've acquired some other cameras while waiting for the FFF, but the DP3M will always be my camera of choice for focus-stacks.

Sandy that is incredibly good! High ISO and almost no noise, beautiful result.

Wow, ISO 640, great result, Vitée, the colors hold even in the shadows!

A nice set of images from the SD9.. I like the seashore and the rye field with flowers in the foreground the most.

Larry, you always add some "treat" - this time cactus flowers.. wish they would grow near me too.. very nice. :-)

Thank you, my photos there are a bit shaky as hand-held but at least seated, looking up, before the performance. There was a fair amount of natural light coming from the rear. I find it amusing that the OCC JPEG of green stage curtain was better than anything I could process from the RAW.

The OCC JPEGs from the Merrills and Quattro's are a lot better and useful than the OCC JPEGs of the older cameras like the SD9/10/14 and preMerrill dps.

I always shoot RAW+JPEG primarily to review the JPEGs before choosing what to process, since they load in SPP a lot faster than RAW. But when everything is good at initial capture, often the OCC JPEG is definitely good enough for online, if not printing. OCC files are smaller than SPP quality12 saved JPEGs.

Sandy, just so's you know - the SD9 and SD10 cameras do not have useful full-size OOC jpegs - they are 1/4 size, only used for the LCD and briefly in the SPP review window.

I remember them well. Someone wrote an extraction tool to get them out of the RAW files, which we used, then Sigma included a nice option in SPP later to extract them

Yes, you may also recall that some people here actually preferred the up-sized jpeg to the following X3F conversion!

Thanks Peter I always look for 'treats' while out shooting! ;)
