the 35mm f1.8g was way better than old screw driven 35mm F2 in all aspects. ESP n the higher megapixel bodies. I had both.
The 35 F2 did ok on 12mp bodies like D3 or d700. But you had to stop it down to F2.8 minimum i do miss its small size. Vs the 1.8
Agreed, but I think the handy, compact 35mm f/2 would have been nice to keep around as part of my "in harm's way" kit that I keep in the car for use in situations where I might not want to use my good stuff. I didn't get nearly as much as I had expected when I auctioned the lens and probably would have kept it if I knew.
Agreed.
One issue the 2014 F mount 35mm F1.8 had is that it was not dust/weather sealed. When I went to trade mine in store wouldn't take it claiming there was all this dust in it. There was when they showed me. It didn't show up in my images. I never noticed it.
I went to Another store that took it.

I'll never sell my Nikon 18-135 because I really like it and use it alot. And if I sold it I'd get next to nothing for it. The 18-140 that replaced it has a metal mount and VR, but it's a great deal larger and heavier.

My Nikon 60mm f/2.8G : often used, small/lightweight, sharp enough for my use/low distortion, multipurpose (close-up, landscape, family pic's) and if it were sold, the "recovery price" would not be worth it..... this Micro-Nikkor has been the most frequent companion on family visit trips to Aruba and Colombia for all the above reasons.

None....sold all my fmount fx gear through the years and never got attached to them..there were some good one...but now unto the z mount :)

Sigma 120-300 f2.8 I needed more reach for motorsport and bought the 200-400 f4, but i think the Sigma was sharper, not a emotional attachment but a logical regret. I still use a DSLR and would not be adverse to re-buying one. A higher megapixel body than the D200 I used to use it on at the time would give more crop range when I needed it, say a D850 or on a FTZ to a crop version of the Z8.

The 58mm 1.4G basically lives on my Z5, the camera is dedicated to it at this point.

I love my NIKON 135mm f/2 DC lens . . . beautiful rendering and bokeh . . . my fave lens.

Haven't sold any so no regret there.

Best,

V G
Love mine also for the same reasons. Yes it does have shortcomings but as you say the color rendering and bokeh are MAGNIFICENT. Never for sale with my DF. My 2nd favorite keeper is the 28mm F/2.8 AIS. Sharp and compact for everyday! W.
