Yep, Reed, things have changed. I'm not sure if it's a state or other supported museum now (or then) but it's changed a lot.

I've always lived in metro Atlanta and my Mother's family lived near Birmingham AL and from the time I was 9 or 10 they put me on a train by myself to visit my grandparents. No problems and a couple of times (back in the 1950's) when the train made one of those many stops they would take me up to the engine compartment and let me ride to the next couple of stops. Guess those days are gone!!!!

Somewhat off topic, but for those interested in trains that haven't visited the O. Winston Link museum in Roanoke VA (USA) it's well worth checking out. Been a few years since we were there, hopefully a bunch of Link's photos and gear are still on display. We thoroughly enjoyed it and purchased one of the books of his photos.
