Hello Don. Thnxs for the post.

An off-topic question here, but maybe no problem (?).

What light modifier would you choose next to a parabolic reflector (let' s say Para 133), if you where limited to just one extra ? For portraits (head/middle/full)/ hair light /background light/etc.

Just one that works well with a parabolic reflector.

Thank you!

Maybe a gridded Striplight positioned opposite of light (@45 degrees). I have 1x5 and 1x6 foot striplights Been favoring the 1x6 the past year. A hair light is also important and work well. I’d recommend one strip and one hair with a Para It really depends on your subject and positioning.

First shot, Para 133 no other lights

Second shot, Para 222 at 45 degrees to model, 2 1x6 gridded strips and a 17” gridded square Elinchrom metal reflector for hair.

Thank you, Don. Much appreciated!

You mean the 1x5 or 1x6 (also) as a hair light?

Between these 2 I very much prefer the first one.

I have a 400w strobe (probably for use with a parabolic reflector/ Parabolix 45 probably), and a 300w strobe (might be stripbox/striplight as you recommend)

A smaller Striplight can be used horizontally as a hair light Gridded so you lens won’t see it. It can also be used for side lighting too

Thank you again! I thought of a strip light in combination with a parabolic reflector. Wasn’t sure though. Glad you can confirm this as a good combination!

Enjoy! Broncolor Parabolic modifiers made quite a difference for me. Many new clients as a result. Fun as heck too.

soon to be bringing them outdoors a lot more too
