Hi, this is Ellis Vener. I will genuinely miss being part of this community.

If you want to stay in touch, have lighting and general gear questions, etc., the easiest way to reach me is at [email protected]

Ellis, I have added you to my address book.

And in return, you and other DPReviewpeople are welcome to "talk" to me at [email protected] about photography or Canadian topics other than politics.

Copy that! I have a link to your site on my Desktop. We'll talk for sure! I also sign up at the temporary site and hope we can meet as well- as soon as they combine and get organized.

Any of the gang can reach me at [email protected]

Great move. Advice from an experienced professional is always welcome.
Indeed great move and advice is always welcome!

Why not all move to 1 (new) site and continue what has been build up here? I mean, concentrate all your knowledge in one single place would certainly help all of us.

Maybe www.DPRevived.com from bobn2?....or its sister site MyBBCamera Discussions from Alansh? They work together and will eventually merge these 2 sites. Starting and setting up these websites is reaction to the ending of DPR. Not everything is working optimal yet (or looking optimal), but these guys are open to all advice from everyone. Both know DPR website (I think bobn2 could be the one who posted most in forums of DPR?).

(follow up to my post above)

Posted about an hour ago by bobn2 in Open Forum:

"....For those interested in either https://cameradiscussion.createmybb4.com/ or https://dprevived.com - these are now one initiative. CameraDiscussion formed a very fast response but with limited capacity for future development. DPRevived.com runs on it's own platform on its own server and thus can be developed as the community wishes. The aim of both Alan and myself is to develop something that is genuinely community run - we don't want big corporations or egos in charge any more. If you go onto DPRevived.com you can see the proposals for future management - or at least my proposals - they are already being discussed.

DPRevived suffered from a few bugs causing difficulties with registration and some of the forum operation, but these are hopefully fixed now. The base system that I used is a bit clunky and it doesn't yet look as smooth as some of the sites created by professional web developers, but that will come. From the people that have joined we have a good selection of skills that should be able to develop the site fast.

So, if you haven't, go and have a look at DPRevived.com - even if you've registered for some of the others....."

I saved you Ellis.

Very kind of you, Ellis.

I do hope you will be posting to a forum regularly as well. Just let us know which forum you decide to post too.

Thank you Ellis for being at the helm of Studio and Lighting Technique. I've enjoyed being part of this cruise. It's now time to say goodby and wish you and all the dpr regulars here success on future voyages. Perhaps we will meet again on another site.

I can be reached at [email protected]

At least the Titanic had a band. Unfortunately this ship has been scuttled. :-(

Ellis, I learned so much from you, reading this forum everyday.

Thank you very much!

I have added your email to my contacts.

Best regards,

Burts.

Maybe that’s one possibility. I also mentioned an idea like this (move to one other place). Useful if all can decide on one. I’m already on DPRevived.

Ellis,

Yes.

I am curious to know if, by now, you find yourself favoring any of the alternatives to DPR forums. While I post infrequently, I've followed this and other DPR forums for many years and you stand out in terms of both even-keeled leadership and as a generous source of information. I was considering asking you this by email, but my guess is that if you said "I'm headed to forum XYZ!", many would follow. I certainly would put wherever you go on my list of places to frequent.

Thank you for your efforts here!

A big last-minute / final opportunity "thank you" for all the people who have provided helpful critique, beautiful, striking and often thought-provoking images and overall the benefit of their skill, knowledge and experience.

I've learned a lot, and hopefully contributed something useful here and there.

Most likely will spend more time on FM.

I’ll write you from

my new location… Some 7,200 miles from where I am at today… After I move May 1 or so
