FM is free to use and post, etc. But you do need membership for other options (like listing on buy/sell forum.)There are options out there, it will be interesting to see which one 'sticks.' I know FM is popular, though paid, as is Nikonians. nikoncommunity.com is one that is just getting started but may yet take hold, and is not paid. There wasn't much "where do we go next" options in the previous thread.
Nikonians (pay) and Reddit (not great for photos) were mentioned, but I also suggested Flickr.
There are multiple Z groups, but i'll throw this one out as the current (seemingly) leader for Z discussion

Now that I see the test scene, I do in fact remember seeing these before, but I obviously didn't see their side-by-side comparison page. They even offer RAW files for download (after clicking around a bit, I finally found them). Are you familiar with the 'Compare Images' feature on Imaging Resource?I will surely also miss DPR. :-(
It has been my daily go-to photography site. It is here I have posted most of my lens tests etc.
One of the unique things which has been valuable to me (and surely many others) is the camera test studio scene, where we easily can compare resolution, high ISO noise etc. between several cameras. I haven't seen anything like that anywhere else. Just loosing that resource is truly a loss for the photography community.
It has been a great help to me over the years:

Might be a way but would need to happenn in a short period, IMOI agree. For a company the size of Amazon, there's no upside.I don't expect it to be "for sale."

We go way backI remember chatting with Phil in the forums. Richard. So many names who are gone now. Ronnie Gault, Shay and lots more. Their memories are still here. That's the hard part. They are throwing away the history and memories. Of so many people. And so many years.
I am grateful that we had it and bitter that we can't keep it.
I think I have bought my last gear from Amazon. They will always be the company who buried DPR. At least to me.
I've been here for about 18 years and a lot of the original posters and reviewers have passed on. I've learned so much about equipment and how to tease out the best from whichever camera you are using. We go way backI remember chatting with Phil in the forums. Richard. Amazon...rather than shut it down, tell us how much per month to keep it up and see how many sign up before April 10th. Maybe this is a money maker for you, Just a thoughtcontinued....
In order to prevent a dozen similar threads, this thread will act as the thread to discuss DPR closing its doors in the context of the Nikon Z system. Other threads will be locked. General thoughts also welcome, but hopefully community members can discuss other forum options moving forward.
Recently the cost to run DPR was estimated at about $3 to $3.5M per year. So about $250-300K per month. At about 4M page views/year, that's 1 to 1.3 cents per view. Assume that 25% of visitors are regulars and would pay for access. For dedicated users, that's about 40-55 cents per day assuming 10 pages viewed per visit (the average is closer to 3). Double that to give AMZ a good profit margin.Amazon...rather than shut it down, tell us how much per month to keep it up and see how many sign up before April 10th. I'm off in my math - it's about 0.75-0.85 cents / view - still around $20/month. But number of members appears to be a proprietary amount. We estimate how many users on DPR?
Interesting...that's what I was looking for, a number. It does seem that a subscription, additional Amazon sales, a little advertising could save the site. Someone smarter than me would have to figure that out. Maybe they already did and that is why they are shutting it downRecently the cost to run DPR was estimated at about $3 to $3.5M per year. Is DPR worth a $15-17/month subscription per year to you? Remember how outraged users were at Adobe's $10/month for a LR/PS subscription.
