Quite good. The 7A 35/0.95 is fractionally better and really good value. Their 25/0.95 is much larger and expensive by comparison.

7Artisans has been quietly improving the general build quality and presentation of its product for some time.

The lenses are all MF and don't have click stops but that might be all the negatives. It is harder to get 'interesting' images wide open with a f0.95 lens due to (lack of) depth of field issues. But it really should be seen as a challenge to our photographic skills rather than immediately jump to the conclusion that it is a lens fault.

I have never had lenses designated this fast before. Just being able to get a f0.95 lens at an affordable price is a opportunity in itself.

The '35' and '50' are both 'nice bundles' on a GM5 .... :)

Thought it was about the 25! Never used the 50! Good luck!

I bought mine during last year's Black Friday's sale. It's my second f0.95, the Mitakon 25/f0.95 was my first bought a few years back.

50mm/f0.95 is trickier than 25mm/f0.95. Both are not good wide open with 'infinite' background, and I've learned to avoid shooting against such background.

50/f0.95 - one of first test shots - nothing special
50/f0.95 - one of first test shots - nothing special

Yes I tend to agree, I have no images that I can easily identify from my 50/0.95 as I am a hopeless note-taker, there is no EXIF and i tend to play with a lot of lenses.

But my impressions agree. It is a quite capable lens but one has to work harder to get good images. It ultra wide capabilities do not necessarily produce instant gratification wide open and it is more a lens that would be used with some thought and experience.

It might be easy to dismiss it up and until the user up-skilled maybe never used to its niche specification advantage.

When compared to older legacy MF lenses faster than f1.0 it is a veritable bargain. There are obviously very fast Voigtlander's about but my needs for this fast have never previously overcome my resistance to the entry price.

Depends on why you want to buy this lens. I had it, then in the end sold it.

I have other fast 50mm lenses - f1.2 and f1.4. In the end I don't find much difference between f1.2 to f0.95, and this lens is much bigger and heavier than my other f1.2 / f1.4 lenses..

Good points on this lens - V good build quality. Relatively small and light for f0.95 (but still big / heavy compared to my other 50mm's). Wide open is very usable from 2m, but lower contrast. Closer than that it is v soft.. From f1.4 it is pretty good for sharpness + contrast.

Bad points - Wide open it suffers badly from CA. (Better by f2). Very soft wide open at less that 2m. Bokeh is ok, but not the best.. Clickless aperture..

Unless you really need f0.95, I think the ttartisan 50mm f1.2 is a better lens; - smaller, lighter, sharper, less CA, clicked aperture, cheaper. I do not see much difference between f0.95 to f1.2.

All the reasons why a f1.2 lens is preferable but it still is not a f0.95 lens.

Sensible people buy the TTArtisans 50/1.2 for all the right reasons. Those that feel the need to buy a f0.95 lens as much as those into climbing a mountain peak do it simply because it is there and they can.

I have both and I am not sending my 7A 50/0.95 away and there also is cheaper TTArtisans 50/0.95 for good measure.
