How do you turn on EyeAF on Z7ii?

I tried in both auto area and wide large - people mode and Im moving the box around and still see no yellow box popping up on eyes. I think there is something wrong with my z7ii. Either that or eyeAF is a load of crap.
Well, either the camera isn't working, or something is weird none of us have thought of.

Regardless of afc/etc, are you in manual focus mode, or using a lens that's mf only (or the mf switch is on)? I'm guessing not, but it's easy to check off.

If you bump exposure comp (or add more light) does it work?
I just tried looking up random portrait photos and tried a headshot photo to view on my monitor. Finally got the EYEAF to work!!! in both wide people L and auto area people modes. I find the auto area people to be snappier, but there's no box to move around. So it looks like auto area people is pretty much a point and shoot mode compared to wide L people. In that case, I wont be using auto area people mode, much prefer a box to move around.
Well, glad it finally worked, but... What did you do differently, if anything? Might help anyone having the same issues.

With my z6 I only have the auto area, and yah, it's not the best option because if you're too far away, the focus boxes jump all over the place--at that point I just use single point like I used to with my DSLR.

Still not sure why it wasn't working with some of the photos you showed though.

I used this photo from online after looking up portrait photos. The eyeAF started working right away. Thank god it finally worked, I was worried that my camera was defective.

Thanks, good to know this. From my experimenting so far, I much prefer wide-large-poeple AF mode over auto area AF just because it gives you a box to move around. However, the auto area AF does seem a bit snappier, or is it just me? Do you find one mode better than the other?

I just tried using the camera on this image off my monitor in both AF auto area mode and wide-large people mode and still no yellow box for eye AF. This is ridiculous.
You must be doing something wrong because I just tried my Z50 on this same photo and it immediately gave me a yellow box for eye AF.
I focused right on his eyes while standing close to my monitor, all the way to far. Zoomed out at 70mm and all the way in at 200mm and still didn't do anything . It was weird.
