Just wondering if there are any similar users like me out there using a 10 year old 18mm f2 on a new age high mp body like the XT5?

Do you still like it and have you thought of upgrading it to the 18mm f1.4? If so, would you still keep both 18mm?

I love the pancake size of the 18mm f2 but yearn for the image quality of the f1.4 from time to time :( Side by side, the 1.4 is 3x the weight and twice the length probably. This is the biggest factor stopping me from upgrading to the 1.4...

I use the 18 mm 2.0 almost exclusively on my Xpro 3, I just sold my 16 1.4 to buy the 18 mm 1.4 .

I intend to keep and use both. The 18 2.0 is an under rated lens.

The 18 2.0 for day time shooting, the 18 1.4 for night time. If the 1.4 does not prove to be too bulky and heavy on my Xpro 3, it could end up being glued to it.

28 mm equivalent is pretty much the only focal length I use as a travel/street photographer.

I use the 18mm f/2 on my X-T5 almost daily. It's probably my most used lens on that camera because of its size, weight, and focal length. It makes the X-T5 an everyday carry. Compact and robust set-up. Obviously, the newer f/1.4 lens would deliver stellar results, but it's a non-starter for me because of the size and weight. I'm trying to keep my lenses on Fuji relatively lightweight. The heaviest one I have is the 18-55mm kit lens. I have a heavier lens for my full-frame camera, but I want to keep my APS-C system more lightweight.

Quick answer: Yes, there are other users like you using the old XF18 f/2 lens on their new XT5's... I'm one of them. For me, the smallish older XF18 is one of the better lenses Fuji has ever created - and its tiny, pancake size was one of the things that drew me to it in the first place. I never considered getting the newer - and significantly larger, and more costly f/1.4 variation - because I like the small f/2 one so much. It's a lens with an immense amount of 'character' - and rendering capability - which are things that are hard to quantify in objective terms. But in my admittedly unscientific opinion, it continues being a great lens.

As an example (since a picture is, as they say, worth a thousand words), here is one of my more recent photos taken with the XT5 + XF18f/2 combination.
