From the latest Nicos Photography Show on .YouTube, A new (maybe new old stock) F mount camera, probably based on the Cosina body. The website and video are in Italian but translation is available for both - https://www.tresorsrl.it/it/catalogo/tutto-per-la-fotografia-fotocamere-reflex/125029-1/881/macchina-fotografica-reflex-analogica-dn60.html

(I’m guessing from the price it’s NOS)

There’s also a K mount one here - https://www.tresorsrl.it/it/catalogo/tutto-per-la-fotografia-fotocamere-reflex/125029-1/18/fotocamera-analogica-reflex-dc303n.html

I have a feeling this is yet another variant of the Cosina CT-1, which is what the Nikon FM10 was, among others.

See here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosina_CT-1

That was what was said in the YouTube video and it looks likely. There was also a lack of clarity if these had just been sat in a warehouse for 20 years. I heard somewhere that Cosina were no longer allowed to make the CT-1 and similar because they didn’t have a licence for the shutter, but I don’t know how true that is?

No, not Cosina, it's a Phenix DN60

Phenix is the brand name for

Jiangxi Optical Instrument General Factory

Alstar is the brand of an Italian importer of photofraphic goods.

the above is the Jiangxi Optical version of the Pentax K1000.

Looking at the web site it suggests they’re still being made, there’s even an “anniversary” rangefinder

This has been the most practical approach to a new SLR. Work off or find those last K-mount or F-mount SLRs with Cosina origin. There were also some nice Cosina badge SLRs in the late film era.

Not made by Cosina...

The company that is called now Phenix has made a lot of private label cameras , some that people think were made by Cosina but were not.

Some info here : http://www.subclub.org/minchin/phenix.htm

Thanks. Same notion; different company. Still think this was the most likely route to any new cameras. I remember Freestyle would also have a Minolta mount, I believe, and a Vivitar branded SLR late in the day.

It's rather confusing but there is another Chinese company that branded cameras as Phoenix.

They made some if not all of the Seagull cameras.

As with Phenix, Phoenix also made cameras with the Minolta SR mount as well as the Pentax PK mount

This is a Phoenix

I just watched a video demoing the DN60 - it looks like the camera the Nikon FM10 should have been

Thanks. Had a Seagull medium format folder back in the day.
I looked into this sometime ago but it is rather complicated.

My understanding is that there were/are at least five different factories, owned by the government, that produced "Seagull" cameras , possibly with some only making parts not the full product.

I found the importers for that camera , it's :

Tresor Optics and Energy di Filippo Ballarino.

With lots of use of Google translate on their web site it looks as if the camera comes with a two year warranty. So Leica isn’t the only place you can buy a new 35mm film camera, and the Nikon F6 wasn’t the last SLR you could buy new. :-)

(It’s actually quite competitive in price to someone wanting to buy a Nikon FM2)

The unavailability of Cosina cameras is mentioned in this video linked to here ( from 43:30 https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4699836 ). Cosina made the shutters under licence to Copal, the licence expired, Copal went into receivership and the shutter design was sold off in a bundle of IP which made it unavailable to copy.

It does look basically from Hardware like a FM10 Nikon (Cosina-made) or Yashica FX-3 Super 2000, from the chassis. Somehow, the grip seems to be similar to the Canon T60, (albeit not the same) which i do also own, and is way similar to these other mentioned SLRs...

The Shutter speed dial with integrated ISO setting looks awful 1:1 to my Yashica FX-3 Super (2000) I'd say this is stolen from the Yashica, the iconic 3 rows of the raute dial design is also the same, see this video here:

Yashica FX-3 Super 2000

The Yashica FX-7 was the same story, albeit into a silver, instead of a black (plastic) SLR body. This silver "Alstar DN60" looks awfully equal to my mentioned Yashica, also the Film advance lever somehow.... :)

YT Video - it's a modded FX-3 Super 2000 for F-Mount, Chinese 35mm SLR

The Lightmeter is (wohoo!) also the same, as on my Yashica FX-3, exactly.

Good light.

I watched this video -
and it looks much more like the FM than the FM10. In particular it’s made out of metal, whereas the FM10 is mostly plastic bodied. Apart from the DOF preview and I think the double exposure button it’s a pretty fair copy of a FM

The shutter speed / ISO in one dial is from the FM, and Nikon F, F2 etc

It's wrong what you say, for real ! Overrank, why you are a lying here ? It's really FUD what you say here - and you should know it, what's going on with your post, to be righter than right? Nikon style is never a Yashica/Contax Shutterspeed dial design.

Nope, the dial is exactly from the FX-3 Super 2000, you can't even compare 2 screenshots? Sorry to say. It's pretty obvious. It's the classic Contax Yashica type of Shutterspeed dial.

I have the FX-3 Super 2000 into my hands, the only difference is, the middle screw part is silver, and on the FX-3 it's black, the font, the dial, the diamond-shaped 3 rows - it's all from the FX-3 Super 2000 here. Nope, the dial is exactly from the FX-3 Super 2000, you don't even had compared two screenshots? You just can't accept that the Shutterdial is the same, as on Yashica since 1979, and so is the 3 LED light meter setup, it's just a Frankenstein SLR, attached from various pieces, with a F-Mount, nothing more, nothing less.
I'd say this is stolen from the Yashica, the iconic 3 rows of the raute dial design is also the same, see this video here:

No offence but I have already posted twice what it is and who makes it and where, so why still talking about Cosina ?

I’m not talking about Cosina - I know what it is now and it also looks like there’s at least one version with the DOF preview (which this is missing) but I don’t think that’s still available
