Hi on August 13 at 9.30 am I will have my turn to visit the Lower Antelope Canyon. I own a Sony alpha 7 III and I'm torn between using my Samyang fe 18mm f2.8 fixed focal length or the Sony fe 24-105 F4. Do you have any recommendations? Even on any machine settings, obviously hoping it's a sunny day. Unfortunately I know that the guides tend to be hasty and I would like not to waste my time, also because I think it is not recommended to change the optics in the canyon.

While I doubt shutter noise would be noticed on a group tour of Antelope Canyon, I've been in some museums, cathedrals, etc., where even a single shot is noticed.

I agree on getting a new or seldom used technique in hand before needing it. No reason to be rushed on a rare opportunity when practice in advance is usually easy and available.

Ouch, sorry for the misinformation then. Attended the photo tour back in 2010 myself and the guides were openly asking why nobody (except me) brought a tripod - seems like they changed their attitude.

BTW, there are still Antelope Canyon X (not upper/lower) photo tours that allow to bring a tripod.

Anyway, recommendation for 24-105/4 remains since it has OSS and that beats a 1 stop faster aperture any day for static scenes.

You can do photo tours with a tripod at Antelope Canyon X. Apparently it's a less crowded part of the canyon. Not sure if people have experience with that one over here? From what I can read the light beams are not as present.

Never heard of Antelope X so would be interested in hearing from anyone who's been there.
