Samsung Galaxy S23 / S22 Ultra GCAM with natural processing

I installed the gcam after unzipping and putting it into main directory, but the app crashes on opening. Every time :(
Tap GCAM icon and hold for second, choose from menu option - "take selfie" and then load XML :)

Thanks now it works.

Some questions though: 50 or 200 mpix cannot be activated in gcam, right?

And also: is it true that there's no way I can take a black and white picture in 200 or 50mpix in stock app and also not in gcam?

Hi Drzewoid,

Just wanted to say a big thank you! I registered here because of this thread.

A question regarding brightness when taking pictures. Just took several samples and Gcam variant has way darker images than the stock ones. Tried setting brightness level on the main Gcam screen when snapping pics, didn't help.

Is there a setting where I can raise brightness after Gcam processes the image?

Just compared ultrawide and normal lenses, ultrawide has normal brightness after processing.

Thank you again :)

Try exposure darker, set that do around 0.8 or 0.7

Hi dazed1,

There is no setting called "exposure darker". There are only "exposure compensation" settings, the main camera is at +1 by default, maximum is +3.2.

Tried that but didn't change anything, the images are still darker than the stock ones.

Strange, images are darker, but not too much for me. Can You send some images? For me they are almost the same as stock camera. Try go to Additional Settings -> Lib-patcher -> Main lens. There are lot options like expo-correction, iso / exp / gamma factor etc. You need experiment to get results You want. Also You can copy to SGCAM/LIB directory different libs and use them to check results will be more acceptable for Your preferences.

Here are some libs to download - don't download LIBS with 8.7 in name :)

To change LIB go to Additional Settings-> Lib Patcher and Custom Library. Please share some photos :)

Ok, i found the recipe to take great night shot with the gcam

HDR+, 25 frames, manually play with shutter speed (this one is 1/3s)

I tuned a little bith the exposure and light\shadows, but i wanted to show the details and lack of noise.

The gcam photo is extremely good, however the issue is 1/3 is not really usable in normal usage, try to get similar results with 1/8 or something like it. If the picture is dark with 1/8, set dehaze_expo to around 0.8, or 0.7

Ok thank you, i will

Why not usable? I'm used to Huawei night mode which takes 3-5 second aswell to shot.

I can also try to reduce HDR frames

Do you know if Matteo has updated or will update his libs for the newer Shamim 8.7 version of gcam? In this version you can import your own noise models.

This is very good photo, but 1/3s is not best idea in my opinion. If You want better image just increase HDR frames to 50 :)

Dehaze_expo = set to 0,75, and drop shutter speed to around 1/5 or 1/7

I looked for but really couldn't find this setting anywhere. Not even in the developers option...which menu or settings are we talking about?

Here is a quick comparison from yesterday's walk with my kid. The weather in that period was cloudy. I used the Camera Assistant app and set softening to medium. That removes the "harshness/sharpness" from the stock camera. I would say that SGCAM version is a bit closer to real life situation but the stock is also very good.
