DSL is already taken in the internet world. I am fine with MILC; it aptly describes the system, I know exactly what it means as opposed to the confusion created in the “why call it single lens if it is actually interchangeable?”, and it can be shortened to just ILC or camera if the DSLR disappears in some future era.
Certainly better than EVIL (electronic viewfinder, interchangeable lens).
We don't need to distinguish digital cameras from film any more than we need to horeseless carriages from the horse-driven variety. It's pretty safe to assume that when people talk about cameras these days, they're usually talking about digital. Often enough that it makes more sense to refer to "film cameras" when appropriate and stop qualifying digital cameras as such. And we haven't needed to differentiate our single lens cameras from the twin lens variety in decades. So while DSL may differentiate itself from DSLR by dropping the R, everything that's left is pointless.
SLR distinguishes those cameras from TLR's. But their are no twin-lens digital cameras that I know of (are there stereo digital cameras?). So why is S useful in the proposed initialism.
Such equipment could be also called SODOMIC (Single Optical Device On MIrrorless Camera).
That does not work because Digital Single Lens suggest a built in lens not an intercheangeable lens type.

No it doesn't MCLV!One might go in the other direction and add one letter: DSLRL - digital single lens reflexless. However, I'm not sure if that really helps
The difference between mirrorless and horseless carriage is that you only need one word, mirrorless. It's the same number of syllables as DSL.
