My main focus is using a tripod with image stacking on my Olympus OMD EM10 Mark ii.

I was going to buy a 10+16mm set of extension tubes and a Raynox DCR-250, which should give me 2.39x magnification according to online calculators.

But I could buy the MSN-202 for less money than the DCR-250/extension tubes and it should apparently give me 4x magnification.

I've heard some people say it will degrade quality which I'd like some second opinions on. Of course it will have a super narrow depth of field and need to be very close to the subject, but if I'm shooting in a controlled environment with a tripod I'm not sure that will be an issue.

I'd appreciate any advice on what's the better choice

the raynox 202 and the 505 which many hate I’ve found to work well WITH the MC-20 teleconverter and 60mm macro lens together. If I were you and using just the 60mm without the teleconverter setup I’ve shown in several posts here - then just use the 250 with extension tubes

i think the 202 is tough to use unless your camera is static and not handheld

what type of controlled environment are we talking about? What type of macro work? Are you going to be focus stacking in another program, or just using the stacking in-camera??

Thanks for the reply. I will be using it almost exclusively on a tripod - is the 250 still going to be the better choice in that scenario?

I'm taking photos of insects, flowers, anything else I'm interested in. Indoors with lighting where I can get super close is my main interest, I might go outside sometimes but when I do that I'm happy with just the lens or extension tubes. I'm using Zerene Stacker.

If you think the 250 is still the better choice I'll go with whatever you say.

I do. You’d probably be fine and have fun with the 202, but unless you are using the MC-20 teleconverter as well I don’t think it is worth it.

Ok, I'll get the 250. Thanks for your help and sorry for my slow replies - because my account is new all of my replies had to be manually approved by a moderator.
