I'm starting to cut my own mats for framing and would like to find a reliable online source of good uncut mat board sheets.

Any suggestions?

You might also try Mat Board Center. The also sell through Amazon. I used them for my last order of 32x40 uncut mat boards.

I also buy pre-cut mats, backer boards and plastic sleeve sets from vendors on Amazon. No particular favorite — I’m shopping “price” for that.

If I need it now, I have both Michael’s and Blick locally.

Nothing too large. I'm framing 13x19-inch prints and don't need huge sheets. I'll check out the folks you recommended.

Have not bought any recently, but I often bought it at Hobby Lobby.
Someone complained abut their mats being hardly more than poster board, but I didn't look to see if they had several grades of mat. I'll look again (and more closely). I appreciate this.

The local Michael's closed, darn it, and thus I need an online retailer. The only "custom" framing shop in the area wants ridiculous amounts of cash for custom-cut mats (leaving me to think they only deal with off-the-shelf frames and mats) making it cheaper for me to cut my own.

Not looking for pre-cut mats because I'm framing some non-standard sized prints, but I'll check the folks you mentioned. Thanks for answering. I appreciate it.

If you live in the Washington DC Area, I recommend Framemasters. Also make sure you get acid free mat board and acid free backer. for the latter I use acid free foam core.

I never buy mat board so I really have no idea. I rely on them mostly for good quality paper and sketchbooks. (My pens and inks come primarily from JetPens.) The brands they stock include better quality choices--and more choices-- than you get at somewhere like, say, Michaels. Sales and coupons are fairly common and I use them to keep the costs down.

Sadly, I'm on the other coast, in the Pacific Northwest, but I'll make sure everything is acid-free. Thank you.

Thanks, but the mat board I'm asking about is what one might use as an internal "frame" when mounting a picture in a frame. Nevertheless, I have a kid who loves to draw and sketch, so I have a use for this information - and I'll appreciate it a lot when her birthday rolls around.

My English is that bad!? Faith and begorra, I'm in the U.S.
Your English is American :-D

Bur seriously, if you were asking about the UK I could help. So it helps me to know you're in the US and there is not much point in reading the thread
