Excuse me if I explode with joy!....Lumix 9mm f/1.7

Why no perspective correction.

Was the camera level?
Camera was hand held. I framed the subject to look the best. I know I can control the leaning of the sides by changing the height of the camera.

I was just looking for the most pleasing output.

Isabel I've got the EM10ii and a Lumix 25mm 1.7 lens. I struggle with flash and would like try it without after seeing your results. I don't really like low DOF and usually use higher aperature settings. Can you suggest settings to try, ie. ISO, f-stop etc? Thanks
Best bet would be to work in A (Aperture Priority Mode) and Auto ISO. The camera will choose your shutter speed.

You would want to check if everything you want will be in focus by doing a depth of field preview - HOWEVER - when the lens shuts down to your desired small aperture you may not be able to see your subjects! This thread discusses how to preview the depth of field at your desired aperture: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3980141

I personally don't preview depth of field, I just take test images if I have time to do so!

I don't know how steady your hands are but I would suggest that you might get camera shake blurriness if the shutter speed chosen by the camera to match your chosen aperture falls much lower than 1/30 of a second. If you can brace yourself you can hold the camera steadily at a much lower shutter speed. Do a series of test shots of the same subject in low light using various shutter speeds and you'll soon know how low a shutter speed you can get away with.

I have a small album of pictures taken with the em1iii and the Olympus 25mm lens, with speeds as low as 1/8 of a second. The stabilization of the em10ii isn't as good, but it's pretty darned good. https://www.flickr.com/photos/isabel95/albums/72157716460132287

Understood.

It's an attractive room.

Nice, got this and the Oly 17mm 1.2 to do walk around shots at night (also landscapes for the former).

I've had my eye on this lens for a while but haven't been convinced that it is a very sharp lens. I would love to see a bunch of samples to review. There doesn't seem to be very many posted anywhere yet,

Sitting in a chair I can shoot 10-20 seconds with the OM-1 and the 25mm f/1.8 lens in a room so dark I can't see what's in the room. Near total darkness. The images are tack sharp and the room looks lit. Sorry, I don't have any to share. Just a test, I deleted them after looking at them on my PC. The room was so dark I would never take a photo in a room that dark because I couldn't see what I was photographing.

ISO was low. I don't remember how low, but the camera makes good images at ISO6400 and higher.

Two reasons why the OM-1 is a $2,000 camera.

Hi there,

I agree with you it is a fantastic compact little lens. Some have asked if used to shoot stars, which I have, and the results to me were very good. Iam by no means a pro at nighttime photography but I was happy with my SOOC jpegs.

Cheers and happy shooting.

You can see a few samples here ,from different users

I personally am not really convinced by the edge sharpness , a concern of mine since I shoot real estate

Thank you for posting those. The Milky Way looks good, and the final shot with the tree in the foreground is great!

I've had this lens pretty much from when it was launched and the Lenstip review quote below is about right.
  • excellent image quality in the frame centre,
  • acceptable image quality on the edge of the frame
No it isn't the sharpest lens ever across the frame, but its fine for an A3 print at 300dpi. That does for me, but I realise that might not suit everyone, great close up though.

Thank you!

Really nice exposures and composition. I agree that the one with the tree is awesome.

I am impressed with the SOOC jpeg performance as well.

Thank you! Glad you like the shots. I am extremely happy and impressed with this little lens. Great for indoors too, low light and close up's, plus it is dust and splash resistant, very light!!

I like this lens a lot too!! The woods were quite dark but it coped well, the close up capability is a real bonus.
