Whenever I pass my phone to a stranger to take photos for us, they inadvertently pick an intermediate zoom level (like 0.7x), which makes the photo look horrendous since it's cropped in from the UWA lens.

How do I force the stock cam to use ONLY the main cam and nothing else?

Cant.

Use PRO mode and lock exposure settings, etc. In Pro mode to swap through the lens you need to press dedicated button.

ahh.. this is frustrating. surely I'm not the only person facing this issue. grateful for any other possible alternatives.

Use the xiaomi watch or any smart bands to trigger the camera remote and no need to pass the xiaomi phone to strangers

very rare to get usable photos from strangers anyway unless you gave them iphone which most people are familiar with

A. How does Apple with a 20-25% market share come out to "most people are familiar".

B. I live in a tourist center and walk a lot, twice a day with my dog. When I see tourists taking photos I offer to take one with their phone. They set it up so all I do is compose the shot and tap the screen. Apple doesn't have a shutter button, you know.

C. Then we look at the photo and it's extremely rare the tourist want to shoot another. I am handicapped by being 81 with bad knees so I'm limited on taking the shot below two feet from the ground.
