"So much rubbish".Get your money ready by the 25th of december, Sony has a big announcement to make.
"So exciting!"
Sony doesn't provide a running commentary on its future model plans, and nor does it leak. The rumour sites, like everyone else outside a few in Sony have no idea about any future models that are more than a month or so away. So, it's highly unlikely that a new model is imminent. Beyond that, we simply have no idea whether or when there might be an M5, or what new features it might offer. We can guess and speculate, but that's it.Not heard any new updates on a possible RX10 mark 5.
NoHowever I have noticed that all the large camera retailers ( UK) are discounting the mk4 by £200.
Do they know something is in the pipeline ?
As they often do. WEX has it at £1299 which is a regularly discounted price at different times, usually about twice a year.Maybe but they put the price back up after Black Friday and have reduced them again within a few weeks ?
Even if they did "know something" they cannot say.Not heard any new updates on a possible RX10 mark 5.

Just like nobody knows if an update is coming nobody knows if it is not or unlikely. For the OP... The likelihood of course is never any update, see the many many threads on exactly the same subject.
It's best to set expectations very low, then there may be a pleasant surprise one day.Just like nobody knows if an update is coming nobody knows if it is not or unlikely. For the OP... The likelihood of course is never any update, see the many many threads on exactly the same subject.
It would be interesting to see the trends in sales over the last 5 years or so. Do you know where I can find them? I have wondered why this market continues to exist considering the value of ILC systems.Basically the likelihood of RX10M5 is very low as compact and bridge camera sales in general collapse and makers move to high end system cameras with low sales numbers, high prices and high profit per item.
Searching around I find random charts of sales, some of course not up to date but the message is clear. It would be interesting to see the trends in sales over the last 5 years or so. I say this even though I have an RX10M4. It is still a fun camera even though I have better glass on my Fujifilm system.
Thanks.
Out of curiosity do you have any evidence that the sales of Sony's 1" compact and bridge cameras have collapsed? Maybe they have but if so wouldn't an RX10 M5 revive sales? It's best to set expectations very low, then there may be a pleasant surprise one day.Just like nobody knows if an update is coming nobody knows if it is not or unlikely. For the OP... Basically the likelihood of RX10M5 is very low as compact and bridge camera sales in general collapse and makers move to high end system cameras with low sales numbers, high prices and high profit per item. They want to sell system bodies and then carry on for a few more years selling various lenses to the same customer.
When hooked with a lens collection the customer is less likely to stray away to a different system - though that may not be a truism for the US market as there seems to be massive amount of customer system changes happening as seen in these forums.
That link says compact sales remain flat which to me means steady, not collapsing. That was in 2021 when parts were hard to get. Maybe in 2022 sales are up.
No evidence as we are not privy to true sales figures from all or any camera makers.Out of curiosity do you have any evidence that the sales of Sony's 1" compact and bridge cameras have collapsed? After a Covid stall in sales there will of course be some pickup. As people find the limits or awkwardness of smartphones for photography then there may be some more sales of upper end cameras - but it will never ever return to the magic days of 2010 when sales were phenomenal. That link says compact sales remain flat which to me means steady, not collapsing. Again you don't know that RX10iv sales are at a generally low level. The RX10iv is unsurpassed in its class so while other Bridge cameras may not be selling well the RX10iv could very well be.Sure a new RX10M5 would revive sales but sales are generally at such a low level it may look like a dead cat bounce.
But overall there seems to be less people buying cameras of any type, so it's a reasonable assumption that the RX10M4 sales are also lower and slower than they used to be. Only by getting honest answers from major camera stores we may be able to get some idea of what is happening. Good luck with that.Again you don't know that RX10iv sales are at a generally low level.
