FUJI - Your Camera Remote app is junk!

I hear you. I have stopped using it altogether after I got myself a USB-C OTG SD card reader card reader for my phone. You'll love it.

But, I couldn't believe my eyes when I tried the app again for the first time in a year with my brand new X-T5. It works quite well. And the pics transfer fast too (in full resolution).

Huge difference to the X-T4 and older versions of the app.

That being said, the card reader is much faster and easier to use:

Maybe a bit more information on your part? I use it and do so quite a bit. No problems for my use case(s)….life’s too short. Enjoy what you have and good luck. We can’t help if you don’t provide more for us to go on.

Edit: the ‘full resolution’ transfer of images is merely a setting that needs to be changed.

Seriously, this is borderline trolling. There is nothing whatsoever wrong with being critical of anything here, but at least take the time to explain what it is that you don't like and what issues you're seeing. If you don't want to bother to take even a bit of time to explain this a little further, then please don't waste your time (or ours) with zero content posts like this. Unacceptable... fix it! :-)

IMO the junk limited to X-camera's smartphone app.

Fuji Instax printer's app seem like far more better

From pal2tech.

He sums it up pretty well.

Main issue is unreliable connectivity.

I was trying to transfer images from my X100V to my iPad today while I had a woman waiting for some prints.

I did end using an Apple Lighting USB camera connector which I recently purchased.

I purchased a Canon Selphy CP1500 printer which just works with the Canon iPad app wirelessly 100% of the time so far.

However trying to get images to transfer from both my X100V and X-Pro3 to the iPad using the Fuji Camera Remote app is like Russian Roulette.

It works around 10% of the time with the iPad but mostly just hangs.

I’ve never got it to work with my iPhone.

It’s been an ongoing issue for years. Just checkout the Fuji Camera Remote IOS/Android app reviews.

totally agree! But the good news are that Fuji also knows it and supposedly they are working on a new one. Let’s see…

What exactly, do you want us, as simple Fuji users to do about it?

To the best of my knowledge none of us has the source code, the signing certificates, credentials etc necessary to modify, build and distribute an updated version of the app.

It was a plea to Fujifilm to fix it.

I have heard a rumour that Fujifilm is supposed to be close to releasing a completely new version of the app.

Here’s hoping!

I am encouraged to have another go with the damned thing having a new X-H2.

As long as there have been camera apps, there have been complaints about them, usually about connectivity. None of the brands have exactly glowing reviews on the app stores, so the bar is pretty low.

Some have also suggested the design of the wireless radios in the cameras themselves play a part in these sorts of issues, so I'd not pin your hopes on this rumored new app solving everything.

Personally, I only use the app for updating firmware wirelessly on my XT4 and it works well for that.

G’day Jerry Astro ,

I think what we are seeing is a bit of pent up frustration here and with good reason . Fujifilm has said they will update and improve the performance of this App for a while now with minimal progress . And it’s a shame because I’ve done 3 firmware updates using the iPad and it’s a breeze , no formatting SD cards etc etc. But that’s where they left it hanging , no lens firmware updates with the app you got to go back to the SD card .
A few days ago I tried again , shy fish in the aquarium that hide so what could be better than remote shooting with the XT3 , after all I did it with a Panasonic FZ1000 years ago. So after going through the hoops I got it all set up and it dropped out as it always does . It would be handy to have an App that lets you download a jpeg or two for a quick share with your partner , or to have a remote release on hand without needing another cable .
it’s not only this app it’s Fujifilm s departments obviously not talking to each other I have to use a 2017 instax SP3 printer with my XT3 , because the nice new instax wide won’t talk to a Fuji camera .
That 1.3 rating on the App Store speaks volumes

cheers

Aaron

Wonder if all these camera mfg are just picking up some base source code somewhere and then slightly customizing them. They all seem to equally suck.

Most apps these days aren't built from the ground up. Especially if it isn't a big software company. Hardware companies seem to just slap on an app as an after thought.

I think it could be improved, but I’ve been using it with my X-T2’s for years without any major problems.

Well I tried it again, partly because it is raining here and I'd little to do.

It is better than it was. The bluetooth connection makes a big difference I think as it picks up the pairing and uses the bluetooth connection to drive the Wi-Fi connection.

It isn't quick but it seems to work.

FWIW, I’m also an iPhone user and never had any problems with it. Although it’s true I’ve never tried to transfer more than a few photos at a time. For that, it works, and also as a remote.

Look, there's nothing at all wrong with being frustrated and making that clear here. Comments both pro and con are always welcome in this forum, but simply expressing frustration without so much as a explanation of the issues you're dealing with feels a bit... well... lazy to me, that's all. I never use the app, and have always simply used a card reader to import my images. However, I totally understand that there may be many aspects of Fuji's app design that are frustrating for those who prefer to import in that manner. If you're going to take the time to call out the problems, then please also take the time to explain in even a bit of detail what causing your frustration and what you would like to see Fujifilm do to fix it. I don't think that's an unreasonable request or expectation from someone posting here, or anywhere.

Bottom line: I'm definitely not here to defend the app... I never use it. However, I would ask the people who have issues like this invest just a little time to inform forum members as to what issues they're seeing and what they might expect Fujifilm to do to fix it. That makes for a much more useful and robust discussion. JMHO.

The IPhone app works for me for geotagging, firmware update and remote shutter release without major problems.
