50mm (equivalent) portrait lens for the GFX?

Thanks a ton for all the help here!

One lens that might work for me is the Mamiya 55 2.8 N lens...appears to be AF. Wondering if anyone has experience with these...how are they corner-to-corner? How's the AF; usable?
That Lens is manual focus though. You probably mean the Mamiya 55mm f2.8 AF. I had that lens on an actual Mamiya AF Body shooting film. The autofocus is very noisy and slow but alright in situations with a lot of light and static subjects. The optical quality was very good, I used it stopped down only though.

There is no adpater maintaining AF from that lens as far as I know.

for a one lens setup, which is also nice as you’re not changing lenses, which in turn reduces dust intrusion, I would get the 45-100 and be done with it. If you’re in the need of a single focal, the closest to the 50mm on your Nikon is the 63mm, both being a bit longer than the mathematical “normal” lens on both systems.
I personally shoot Hasselblad X these days, never loved the 45, just got the 55 and am very happy with this …and it just happens to be the mathematically correct “normal” lens.

with the zoom, no issue…

…how are you getting along with the Mitakon?
I've been shooting a few portraits at F2. It's nice, large...not unwieldy, though. Honestly, the whole system is quite a bit bigger than expected. Ofc, I left my card reader at work so can't see these files until tomorrow!

The GF 50mm is surprisingly small and light weight yet very high quality - though maybe too wide for you and minimum focus distance can be an issue. In terms of size and appropriateness the 63mm and 35-70mm are next up.

As to weights with the GFX 50R, some rough calcs -

1770g inc Mitakon 65mm

1770g inc GF110mm

1570g inc GF80mm

1170g inc GF63mm

1160g inc GF35-70mm

1100g inc GF50mm

/

I regular use a GFX 50S inc 32-64mm, hand-held mostly, 1795g - and I feel it! - mounting the GF50mm is then a joy.
