G3 + .thm Problems (how to get them ;)

Hi

I own a Powershot G3 and use IMATCH on a WinXP machine.

So i know what a .thm file do, thats not the problem.
I use the standard USB cable, setting the camera to PTP.
And everything worked fine until i make my first RAW´s yesterday.

I worked before with a G2 and i downloaded it via USB and had both,
the .crw and the .thm.
And now it saves only the .crw file. :-~

Steps i made:
Downloaded the latest WIA driver (5.0.5) -> No change
Try to use Zoombrowser -> Worked

Is there a way without Zoombrowser? ;-)
This software is ...... (I can´t say it)

What will i get with a card reader?

Much faster transfer to and from the card, for starters (that alone makes it a good move).

No, you won't

I believe the thm files are created after you view the .crw files in some program like zoombrowser.

I don't have a G3 - I have an A70, but the A70 also creates .thm files and attaches them to movie clips. The .thm files are a small JPG thumbnail that also has the relevant EXIF data for the movie clip, and they're created by the camera not the software. I always download with a card reader, and I've written a program that renames my files and creates HTML gallery pages for me. It renames the .thm files and uses them as thumbnails for the movie clips.

My bet would be that the G3 is doing the same thing for the raw files (that's what the .crw is, right?). The .thm is probably created by the camera to dispaly on the LCD and to store the EXIF data.

had the chance to check it

on the cf-card is the .crw and the .thm
the G3 generates both

any help to download both files with USB - PTP
not Zoombr.... !!! is welcome

You may be clear on this, but I can't tell from all the messages. If you download the files from the camera to the computer using a CF card reader, which is the quicker and easier way, the crw and thm files are both included since you're just copying files. (I don't now about the problem using USB-PTP.)
