10% off OM-1 at Amazon US

Price did fall but still seems a work in progress to get AF up to par with top SC& N AF systems. Will stick with em1m2 and g9 until firmware updates or a more mature m2 model.

My last Olympus camera was an OM-1 (film version). I loved that camera!

I don't have any Olympus lenses. I believe a good all rounder would be the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO Lens which is on sale at various places as well. I sold my Sony A7r4 kit a couple of years ago (don't really miss it).

I might take a trip to B&H tomorrow to look. I want to see the Fuji XT-5 as well.

I think those models are more expensive. Depends on whether cost, weight or performance are your priority and which lenses you would use.

I see the OM1 and A7Riv are comparable in the red kite test, although I have neither lens and don’t shoot red kites.

OM1 subject recognition is astounding but I’d like people to be as good as dogs and don’t need trains.

A7Riv EyeAF and tracking are good - if the subject turns their head away, the camera tracks the head until the eye reappears.

I thought about waiting for firmware 2.0 before deciding whether to trade up from an EM1.2 to OM1. It made more sense to go immediately for my own reasons. My bigger bodied camera is an A7Riv - wee bit smaller than the G9 but 7g heavier. Closer in UI design to an OM1 and more of a difference in shooting envelope than another MFT body.

I guess if firmware 2.0 doesn’t arrive, I’m effectively out the cost of a very decent zoom lens. On the other hand, all my current photographic needs are met.

Haha!

I do have an A7R4 and I’m planning to take it out tomorrow to shoot landscape.

I also have an OM1 for a do anything reasonably well lightish kit.

Strap, 8mm Pro, Laowa 10/2, OM1 with 12-40/2.8 mounted, 40-150/2.8, rain cover. MC14 and FL-LM3 nestled on top of Laowa.

Bag is ProMaster Jasper Medium. 2.5 kg of body and lenses, can carry all day in bag and any combo out of bag also.

The 40-150/2.8 is a very nice lens, which can keep up with the OM1. The 12-40/2.8 is OK.

I get Amazon LLC as the seller if I add to cart at the top of the product page (showing OM System Store at the top), third party sellers need to be specifically selected at lower right.

I'll see what I get, otherwise Adorama looks good as they throw in a free battery. Not sure how important that is now - my E-M1II will usually last a whole day (unlike the original E-M1).
Does Adorama throw in a free battery if you buy it on their site or on Amazon with Adorama as the vendor?
I only saw it on their site, didn't check other sellers through Amazon.

I couldn't resist. Sold by Amazon, Shipped by Amazon. Done. Next is lens.....

When you get it, just make sure you have warranty by registering at the OM systems website. If it is a gray market item, they will refuse to repair it - even if you are willing to pay for it.

Yes - and included a link that you didn't, and specified 'USA' so British, German etc readers wouldn't look in vain.
Not sure I understand. I didn't think to include a link. That was good of you to include the link. I wasn't too interested in the $1.09, just that it was sold and shipped by amazon. All other deals that I saw were sold by unknown vendors with no feedback. Thank you :-).

Would be nice to get the most out of my 300 pro but if I’m buying there top end pro model camera it better do planes trains people and everything else besides birds. Will see it a firmware does it or they release a new model to get a more mature camera.

abso---lutely. Thanks for thinking of me. Just so tacky that we even have to think of that when buying from a "prime" vendor, through the OM systems store.

Isn't all tech a work in progress? By the time an update or Mk.II arrives (2+ years from now?) the landscape will have changed again...

I have an E-M1II and Mk.III didn't feel like much of an upgrade. I decided to go for the OM-1 now that it got a good discount. I don't compare it with (2-3x more expensive) FF competition, it feels like a significant enough progress from E-M1II - EVF and AI alone, forget about 120 fps.

For better or worse, one can own a pretty state-of-the-art-ish flagship in this system for (relatively) very little.

Thats because I knew the price was still dropping ;-)

That was my full house so pay up! :-)

No worries, I was responding to Hornsbee, who was trying to be a bigger know-it-all than I am! :-)

Congratulations on your purchase, it looks like you got the OM-1 at the lowest price ever and as you say, from Amazon itself.. a very good deal indeed!

Now it's $1,804, ship date of Nov 30. Nothing on the page hints that it's not an officially sanctioned OM-1. But I'll be checking it carefully.
