Here is the long-awaited announcement, in black and white:

All the apps on all three platforms are expected this time, with higher prices (probably $75 each for the desktop apps). The iPad Affinity 2 apps will be treated as new apps, so no free upgrades for users of the current iPad apps. But I'm sure there will be attractive upgrade offers for all existing users.

I received a SOMETHING
BIG IS Coming email. But no details or prices.

I hope they stay realistic with their price.

We have waited a long time for V2 and I must admit I thought they were going to leave it to next year. Very interested to see what they do, I wonder if we are going to be surprised? :-)

I think we can expect a big percentage increase in prices (maybe $75 for the desktop apps, and $25+ for the iPad versions). Serif has been working on this for a long time, so I expect some big new features. What's not clear is if there will be any optional extras in the Luminar Neo style.

I'd picked up strong indications that it would be this year, probably this month, so I'm not surprised by the timing. But I'm pretty sure that there will be some surprises in the content, particularly if they do increase prices by 50%. They'll need the v2 apps to be more than just low cost Adobe substitutes.

That was a rather irritating video, at least IMHO :-)

I quite liked it.
Yes , I quite liked it too!!

And given how long they've been supporting a very reasonably priced V1 along with no update charges, and a significantly updated V2, a large price hike is to be expected and justified, IMO.

A great change from the normal "corporate" video. They certainly like to be a little different.
Yes, that's what I like. No fancy swoopy graphics, no Hollywood-style effects, no examples of the features. Just a normal-looking company manager (I assume?) giving a slightly jokey, low-key chat.

I will be waiting to see what they are offering. :)

Any suggestions for the 'big' surprises?

It will be the "Adobe Killer." I will give them my money.

A considerably improved RAW converter, please........

I would like some DAM features in Affinity Photo and also a better RAW conversion. Some AI features would be very welcome also.

IMO somehow a simple (mostly) B&W talking head is a far sight better than the over-the-top TikTok-style videos now commonplace.

Personally, I'd rather they concentrated on other things. I don't think they could improve the Develop persona enough for it to compete with PhotoLab, so why bother?

...and I continue to do so.

v2 will have to set my brain on fire to warrant an output of $75.

it is too simple in today's version.
