This time for real, I am submitting a close account request. Enjoy your cameras.

@Victorv- contact me at my email ([email protected]) if you want to hear about OM-5 if I get it. I probably will if it's the right size, and to follow up on Pentax.

@Everyone else that wants to keep in touch - send me a note to my e-mail if interested.

I guess my name should become soon "unknown member."

I have met some of you in person- it's been good.

I just realize this is a bit like Facebook and just not worth the effort anymore (I closed that account in April pandemic 2020 year). I am also have a list of things to do photographically, and rather than spend time trying to put truth to the make believe claims and logic, I think it's best to put that time elsewhere.

Contact me if you have Q's on EM5.3/EP7/EM10MarkIV if you have them, I still own these. Also recently I tried a Sony A7C FF for 3.5 weeks, decided to return. Great camera, but overall decided at least for now to not go there. If you want to know more on a real world experience rationale, ping me at my e-mail. I'll answer as I can.

Remember these are all photographic tools. Some of you get this but a lot of the fans seem to attach their ego to the brand- don't. It hurts your photography- what allegedly you are trying to do.

Wishing everyone health, good fun and to focus on your photography.

I've seen you make good contributions on other threads, but when you get on a bent like this, especially without using the camera, it becomes very tedious.

Don't claim to have divine insight. But say what you know to be true.

I also posted this on the latest sandbox dust-up, the current thread titled, EM1X discontinued in Japan, discounted a lot in France, with the same OP as the OP of this thread:

I don't get it. Right here in this very forum there is another current thread titled:

Em1x is discontinued, was it a flop?

That thread is now 8 pages/150 posts and counting. Needless to say, a wide spectrum of barstool experts are weighing in, including many on the side of, YES, it was a flop. And many of those theorized as to why, in terms not just equally, but much more pejoratively or "definitively" than rhetoric aired by the OP of this thread.

But people are getting their hair all mussed up at the OP of this thread, while the debate on the other thread seems to be occurring without anybody getting their panties in a twist or throwing their toys.

I don't get it.

I understand where you are coming from.

Why not avoid the gear discussions and just post your photographs to the "Weekly Thread."

There, people enjoy the photographs regardless of the gear.

Instead of discussing the equipment, write a narrative about the photograph(s) giving the viewer an insight into what the photograph is about, location, etc.

I really enjoyed your rational down to earth and always polite posts. And will miss them.

May I suggest, keep your dpreview account for now. But take a break of say 6 months from reading any posts. Then reassess.

I sincerely wish you all the best!

It appears to me that you have some level of compulsive need to respond to every nuance or facet of nearly every comment made in a thread that you start or participate.

It is to your credit that you recognize an aspect of your behavior that you believe should be adjusted. And, your willingness to actually make such an adjustment. I'm still working my way out of some unproductive behavior patterns that evolved during the pandemic.

Best of luck in your pursuits.

Sounds like bridge burning you should just leave your account dormant and use it if needed in the future with a particular question.….not that I care…. then there were over 47 thousand posts to no avail… just great a smartphone

So you are bored of endless heated arguments about whether the triangle strap rings are superior to the round? Or answering newbie questions comprised of only "Which camera should I buy, and do I need a lens?"

Raist3 - I think cba.melbourne's post, above says it all. I have always enjoyed your posts and often looked for them. Suggest you just take a break, rather than sign out. Best wishes to you. I'm very sorry to see you go.

Peace. ...and Best Wishes

John

Ricardo,

I am one of the many people here enjoying your polite and objective responses. I understand your feelings, I am also brand agnostic and enjoy my Olympus, Fuji and little Sony the same, but on the other hand this forum is just a very tiny part of our life. Personally I stopped responding to many posts that I find make no sense to respond anyway, but there is still plenty of people posting interesting images and ideas.

As someone else no need to go, just take a break :-)

Hey,

I'm not going to lie, i was interested in the recent threads about the E-M1X, and last night i felt as if at least one of those threads had derailed a little bit...

This being said, I've always appreciated you taking the time to contribute to this forum and give your honest and caring opinion. Thank you for that!

And I agree with you, all of this is meant to be fun, and ultimately we should just keep on shooting and enjoying our tools, whichever those may be. :-)

All the best!

Sorry to see that you have decided to abandon the DPR forums. It is always disappointing to see yet another sensible and rational commentator leave. Why not just leave your account dormant.

I understand though as the nature of the various DPR forums has changed somewhat. The M43 forum was very vibrant when I started posting, perhaps because M43 seemed quite revolutionary and seemed the way forward for digital ILC photography.

I come here to post on the splendid weekly picture thread that appears on this forum every week. A habit I have had for several years. It is really the only thing that keeps me here.

It seems that you could not stay away from this forum, and may be other forums too!

18 hours ago you started a discussion of an interview on the Panasonic GH6 subject.

Days earlier you started a discussion of the obsolete E-M1X.

Months earlier you indicated that you were going to quit any extended forums discussion and concentrate on picture taking, at around 46K posts. Since then you have accumulated a thousand more posts at 47K.

I have a feeling that I will see your "unknown member" posts in the future. I would be happy for you if the post from this "unknown member" attached with just a picture or two.

Good luck 👍

Your stats are pretty amazing at DPR. Since 2001 you have averaged 81 posts a week and started 2,189 threads.

I would just slow down a bit and enjoy a few posts here and there. That's basically all I do now days.

Even this week it looks like ....

Yep, just sit back and enjoy the forum, rather than post away all the time. I enjoy your posts and you are one that makes a lot of sense, so it would be sad to see you just go.

All the best.

Danny.

I can always justify a need, but I can never justify a want.

I've been on Dpreview now since 1999. One thing I learned early on is you have to have a pretty thick skin to tolerate much of the absurdity that will occur in these forums. Been in the Canon, Nikon, Fuji and Mft forums along the way. In the early days Dpreview's following was largely professionals and very serious enthusiasts who wanted to share their experiences.

It ended up evolving into a Pi$$ing contest over whose opinions were right coupled with fanboyisms galore and more. Over at the likes of say Fred Miranda the sanity still prevales as there isn't the wanna be attitudes found in quantity over here. But if anything it may give you some time to chill. To me being on Dpreview in general is a bit more like a paintball game. Oh well.

The poor guy can't even say goodbye without starting an argument.

I don't disagree with anything you said, but the chances that he'll see it seem pretty slim.
