I use back button focusing and both AF-C and AF-S priorities are set to Release. This is the weird feature I noticed. I am in single-point AF are mode. I use the AF-ON button to focus on something. I release the AF-ON button and press the shutter release button to take photos. Later I use the touch AF on the back of the LCD. Once I have used the touch AF I cannot release the shutter any longer, unless the selected focus point is actually in focus. As if the camera decided the AF priority should be Release now. The only way to take a photo is to keep the AF-ON pushed while pressing the shutter release button. Even more weird is that if I activate focus shift shooting, the camera will not take any photos or will take 1 or two photos, even if the number of shots is set much higher. The remedy is to switch off the camera for a few seconds and turn it back on. Anybody has noticed this? Or is it only my camera? Would anybody like to test it?

Ika, will only address the hi-lighted above. Focus shift shooting, at least on Z7 so assume for the Z6II, is activated by pushing the 'OK' button to begin the series (and not the shutter) when you are in the menu for focus shift and have highlighted 'Start'. See the camera Reference Manual.

Good luck on the rest of your inquiry. I hope what I have added above helps. Stay Safe!

Thank you, I know how to activate focus shift shooting.

I was not sure from what you had said so thought to be on safe side. I had attempted to start a focus shift with the shutter early on with my camera - took me a bit and finally found/re-read the reference manual. Stay Safe!
