Sold and shipped by Amazon. It should be a US version. The condition is listed as new. I purchase it the moment I saw it yesterday :)
It's a great lens and that looks like an awesome deal on what appears to be for a new US model! I'd jump on this as well, if I didn't have it already.

Only 10 left!

Based on some reviews, it appears some people are receiving high-priced lenses from Amazon in plastic bags with no protection rather than in a box. Though I have seen Amazon use almost no protection in boxes for things I have received as well. I'd be pretty wary of that.

I just bought this lens from Amazon last week and received it last Friday. Tried to get Amazon to refund the difference. No go. Had to order one of last 3 on sale, and they processed a return for the one I bought last week. Crazy. I will validate it is in fact a USA new lens before returning the one I received last week.

That makes me happy. Based upon today's exchange rate, I bought this lens in Tokyo for $895.68 (inc tax)

Can you send a link where you found it? I have looked and can't find it anywhere.

Thanks,

The offer was up for few Horus only. I was able to purchase the lens and the prices went to MSRP soon after.

I believe it was a Labor Day spot sale with limited number of lenses at that price.

That's the current price at B&H Photo in NYC (as of 3:45PM, 9/12/22). (Free expedited shipping, as always plus discount equal to your state's sales tax if you have their PayBoo card.) NikonUSA's current price is $899.95 USD.

EDIT to add: Ooops! I'm looking at the 24-200! :-|

Seems a little odd, as Amazon is a registered retailer/seller with Nikon, but no other registered retailers that i see are selling them for $200 off (and from what I know, they aren't allowed to do that by contract and that they are usually required to stick to Nikon's current pricing and promos).

So, with that, I'm a bit skeptical myself though especially seeing that Adorama has their listed for $1099 (normal list) on Amazon as well. But we have seen a few cases where Amazon some how was able to sell some stuff below what the competition was (in the past) without getting heat from Nikon (at least ,I assume they didn't get any blowback from Nikon).

It's a tempting price, as I've been considering upgrading my 24-200 to the 24-120 but $200 off is a bit fishy to me to be a legit US lens, new. Refurbished, sure... used, sure, but $900 for a new US model seems a bit too low for me.

I received my order at the $896 price. Brand new Nikon USA lens. I bought a Z7/FTZ/24-70F4 package a while back that had a big discount from Amazon when no one had that discount. Not sure how they get away with it but the Z7 package was same as this lens. New Nikon USA with Nikon warranty,🤷

Someome had indicated that sometimes Amazon does this if they have a lot of overstock or things aren't moving, although with the 24-120 being somehwat in demand and harder to find, I wouldn't expect that to be the case here.

Most likely as someone pointed out it may have been a one-day "spot buy" sale (very limited maybe to just a few hours or limited quantities). Yes I would like to know how Amazon is able to do this and not get in trouble with Nikon, although part of it might be sales volume worldwide (versus something like Adorama or B&H which primarily cater to the US and perhaps Canada if they do).

The local shop did tell me once that for Nikon, they were allowed to discount it a bit (like $50) but in no way are they allowed to sell it below cost (which I would figure would have to be at least a few hundred dollars -- like $200-$300+ -- from list on most things).

Regardless, I'll have to keep my eyes open for the next one. Really been considering the 24-120 and might swap some lenses around to get one.

I purchased mine at the original MSRP when they were first released, so I'm jealous of this deal. Yet it really is a great lens. I took it on a trip to Spain last spring, along with the 14-30, and these two lenses plus a Z7ii were all that I needed to travel with.

There is a conditional rebate of $200 on this lens at the moment and my local source says that it is valid until Oct 2nd. The reason I know this (and subsequently got confirmation of) is because I am in the middle of acquiring a Z 6 II and wanted this lens to go with it. If you go on B&H and put any FF Z camera into your cart with the 24-120 f/4 S lens, it's automatically discounted by $200. I asked my local shop to match that, and they did without issue because they too can honor the rebate pricing from Nikon.

The Amazon price was due to a misconfig of the condition for the sale price. It seems that they are no longer honoring the rebate (because they lost a lot of money? LOL), so it's definitely not a good option for sourcing the deepest discount if you are also buying a Z FF at the same time.

At Nikon USA, as well:

For me, I look at the whole buying experience (over years of buying different bodies and lenses) is it equals out in the end (as I've bought some lenses at full price, but bought my original Z7 combo right when the MSRP permanently dropped $400 from $3800 to $3400 and only by luck really because I talked myself out of it for so long, that when I did go to buy it I noticed the new price).

Some things you get a deal on because you choose the right time to buy, other times you pay full price. I'm not the type that will run out to buy something because it's on sale (some people do) but will if I had already planned to buy it to begin with (at some point).

I'm just still debating the merits of the 24-200 versus a 24-120. On one hand the 24-120 is sharper and faster (constant aperture) but the 24-200 goes to 200mm.

Don't debate - get both. If over time you see yourself gravitating towards one or another all the time, sell the other and consider the loss as the rent. If you want to reduce this "rent", buy both used on craigslist - and also sell on craigslist to remove the dealer's cut or ebay fees.

If you are using both, keep both. If you are using neither, keep neither.
