Problem with Photoshop Clone Stamp

I don’t know if this will be of any help, but could you somehow be using a different shaped brush for the clone stamp tool? Something other than the standard round one? I seem to recall this was possible but I don’t recall how.

The reason I’m asking is that with the normal brush tool on my system, the “common everyday” brushes like soft round, hard round, etc… will show me the graphical preview when I alt+right-click. Brushes like the Kyle Ultimate Pencil Hard, on the other hand, only show me the empty circle when I perform the same alt+right-click action.

It seems that the graphical preview is only working for brushes that use the plain vanilla standard round brush stamp and not any brushes that have a custom shape stamp. Perhaps you’re experiencing the same thing if you have the brush being used by the clone stamp tool set to something other than the basic round shape?

FWIW I’m on Win 11, PS 23.5.0, RTX 3070 running the 516.94 game ready driver.

Is this the preferences file I should delete to force Photoshop to create a new one?

Thank you, what file or files or folder do I rename or delete to do this?

I thank you for the suggestion, but that didn't help.

I thank you but deleting/renaming preferences folder didn't help.

I'm using the latest subscription version of Photoshop. Clone stamp source point stopped showing graduated colored area in the circle that represents the amount of hardness. Now there is only a blank circle representing the source point area. Same problem with brush tool and spot healing tool. Any help would
i had this problem and it was fixed in the tool settings…, try this from page i found
‘If the Photoshop clone stamp is not showing preview, it may have to do with your clone Source settings. To fix it, select the Clone Stamp>Window>Clone Source and check Show Overlay. Make sure the blending mode is Normal and check Clipped on the right side menu.’

Yes I did, Thank you... Someone suggested I get a video driver update. I'm thinking I may need a new video card since mine apparently is too old to get driver updates for it.

I did delete preference files but the new one created by adobe didn't help the red in circle problem.. I do thank you for your help though.

thank you for you help, but that didn't fix it.

I thank you for your suggestion, but I checked and is how my clone source was set.

I loaded the beta version of Photoshop and my clone stamp, brush, and spot healing brush works perfectly in there. I wonder when that version will become the current version of Photoshop?? I'm going to try just using the beta.. all seems to be fine with it!! Thanks to all for your help,
