Salt water is really problematic as just drying the unit out is insufficient because of the salt and other minerals in the water. You generally have to disassemble and clean the boards, etc. individually. You can try contacting Canon repair but this may be an SOL situation.I forgot that my camera was in my cargo shorts pocket. It got splashed by sea water on the beach. What’s the best way to possibly clean and save it? It powers on but screen doesn’t show anything and it doesn’t look like it takes photo.

I have an Olympus TG-6 for just those times when water may be a hazard. I use my Canon gear, otherwise.HUH!
All cameras will die in salt water. Maybe you need a camera designed for underwater.
I have an underwater camera. This G7X was not for underwater use. I forgot it was in my pocket when I went near the water and got hit by a wave. A mistakeHUH!
