New Topaz Photo AI Coming in September

I was rummaging around today and came across an offer in my email referring to a new coming program from Topaz. Seems they've incorporated their DeNoise, Sharpen AND Gigapixel into ONE program. However more importantly it is upgraded in many regards. They've already fine-tuned it but stated it is currently in Beta with final release in September.

My former complaints regarding the Sharpen and DeNoise is there were times it provided some artifacts in the image. I road tested several images where in prior attempts with the standard programs from them there were artifacts. This time in the Photo AI program there were NO artifacts and noise was completely GONE! Without destroying fine details that in prior attempts it did mess with some fine details.

The real surprise came with the Upsize button where you can choose the pixels size or simply select 1 through 6 to increase its size. I took some small pictures taken back in 1979 with a cheap film camera of a friend in a creek and canyon area I was in at the time in Utah. I up sized it to 3 and it blew me away. Not only did it look as though it was taken yesterday, but there was detail rendered that was absent in the original with NO artifacts or noise speckles or anything negative.
So the program invented some details? If they where absent in the original and you see them now the program must have inserted details from what it "felt" should be there.

Feels like something not photography to me....
Does all photographic editing not impact the image in one way or another . Be it sharpening , NR, colour adjustments , and so on. Most of our final images are more an interpretation of how we want the seen to look per se than a 100% faithful document of the scene . Obviously there are degrees of manipulation from the subtle to the oh my god what have they done :-) I have found Topaz AI software to be capable of very good results but it is not as straightforward as say DXO's PureRAW 2 where other than a couple of options { global sharpen and lens distortion corrections } it is basically a click and go . Topaz has more options to tinker with and can take more time to tweak to your liking

Sharpness was very prudently applied not overdone in this case. I was astounded how good it worked. I used several other examples from many years ago and it continued to amaze me. So keep your eyes peeled for this program. If you currently have their Trio of programs, you can go onto the site for Topaz and do a download of the prerelease of Photo AI. Check it out, this could be the new kind of the hill in post processing noisy image or ones that lack detail.

Sounds like BS to me, he should post some examples instead of 'shouting'.

Yes. It is not PHOTOgraphy, but AIgraphy :)

You guys are taking a completely different language then me. So I'll leave you to your issues.

Later I wonder if there will be a way to have the masked area have sharpen and denoise, but the non-selected area have only denoise?

Sharpen AI when using a mask will sharpen and denoise the masked area, but the non-masked area does not get denoise. That means I have always found the masking to be useless. I always have to use Photoshop to combine two images: one which has been run through Sharpen AI and one which has been run through Denoise AI. Then in Photoshop I have to create a mask so the Sharpen AI part is combined with the Denoise AI part.

At the moment, in it's current versions, I do feel that ON1 has them beat. But I'm quite certain the engineers at Topaz are fast at work trying to perfect this new Photo AI. I would imagine they will incorporate one's ability to mask the specific subject correctly. otherwise, it would be an incomplete product and I don't believe that is what they are aiming for.

Topaz released Sharpen AI in February 2018 and we are still waiting for this problem to be fixed, although I do not know how long it has had masking. Therefore my wondering about whether it will be fixed in Photo AI is very smart indeed. :-) I certainly hope they finally fix it when Photo AI is released in September 2022, but we shall see. I have sort of given up hoping that they will fix it in Sharpen AI.

Different language? Is it an issue ?

"Photo" comes from "Light" ("Photon" is a light particle), so the "photography" is just that drawn by light.

"AI" comes from "Artificial intelligence". Thus "AIgraphy" is something drawn by AI, hasn’t? . What the problem?

I prefer the "photography". Never was satisfied by AI Denoise, because of the AI “fantasy”.

I just installed version 0.7.2

Speed improvements are great. Still problems here and there that I reported using the in-app link under Help menu. Namely, for RAW files from the G9, chromatic abberation isn't corrected...

...and, in general, lots of aliasing at all zoom levels.

like anything else, it will take some time to adjust. Sill very useful to have them three apps to use separately where others ways cannot do the job.

Erri De Luca said that humans live as long as three horses and then goes on displaying his wisdom. I'm well past both.

This German guy (in English) does a good video using 0.8. He compares several photos using Photo AI to Denoise AI, Sharpen AI, and Gigapixel AI. I agree with him that unless Photo AI gets much better and offers more controls to use when the auto settings get it wrong then it is somewhat disappointing and not as good as the separate products.

I hope though that Topaz will truly get the results up to the level of the 3 separate products, while combining them in one and also providing more control when you want or need to override the auto settings.

Topaz Photo AI 1.0.0 released:

This is the official release, not beta.
Thanks for the heads up but unfortunately the minimum PC is higher than for the individual applications so unless anything has changed in this full release I won't be trying it out?

PS my CPU is a 1st Gen i5 Quad Core and does not have AVX2. It has the SSE instructions set and to date the individual programs have been fine!

Count me out. Having fairly recently had to pay for a Denoise upgrade, I find they are asking for more money for V3.7.
Yes, you apparently bought Denoise AI over a year ago. You got free updates for a year. After a year you don't get anymore, but you can still use the last update that came out before the end of the year. It does not stop working like the Adobe rental plan.

I bought the 3 app bundle from Topaz last year. I got free updates for a year on all 3. The year ended awhile back. I still use my Topaz apps. Maybe later I will pay to update for another year, but not yet.
Yeah I prefer that model more. The lightroom subscription is kinda pricey especially if you are not using all the time. Does Topaz come with some sort of generic photo editor?
