Do you find you get better results if you shoot a 12MP photo then enlarge it during processing, maybe with ACR "Enhance" or just shooting the 48MP and let the drone's software enlarge the photo?

For me it's the former. But I prefer to use Capture One so I have to compromise a little.

Thanks.

It was to windy to do a real test so I settled with the windowsill

The standard image was a little disappointing and the histogram reflected this

The AEB 5 shots was far better but the downside is you get leaf ghosting due to wind movement but items not moving and dynamic range far better.

The last was the 48 mp which I had not tested before and the image quality is excellent

So for me it will be AEB and 48mp depending on the subject or possibly AEB manual pano.

I like Topaz Gigapixel and have used it for several years so will test that out for drone work.

Hopefully I can get out tomorrow morning and get some proper tests

I have done some tests on quality and for me if the subject has movement it will be the 48mp if there is no movement 5 shot AEB which is mostly the way I work, saying that you can mask out blur on a photoshop stack.

This is what I found when testing dynamic range and quality with the mini 3

Its alway useful to do tests on equipment before working on something important an various lighting conditions so yo know what you are going to get.

To answer a query about the panorama mode:

The self-stitched panoramas created in-drone are rubbish. Low resolution and low dynamic range from jpegs.

To capture a panorama properly and obtain the maximum quality, you need to shoot RAW (DNG) frames, afterwards convert them to jpeg or Tiff, then stitch them in PTGUI Pro.

This is an example of our local town hall with the city as a backdrop.

Photoshop will stitch your DNG panoramas, wide, 180°, 360° it also does HDR panoramas and vertical pano's

The good thing about Adobe is they include what the customer needs for popular workflows or allow 3 party producers to run within the platform. all for £9.98 a month for photoshop, Lightroom and 20 G of storage :D

Subscription is not a 'good thing' ... it is why I don't use it period, along with many others who can't stand subscription based robbery!

I think Adobe got fed up of people getting pirate photoshop off car boot sales. I suppose there is always Gimp for people not able to afford a subscription.

I see no reason to use 48mp mode at all - 4 time bigger file with a lot of noise and minimal to none difference in fine details, compared to 12mp upscaled with ACR - enhance
(sunset time, shadows +100)

thanks for bringing this up I used the 48 MP photo yesterday and am amazed at the details I could bring out in the distance by cropping and zoom in Yes pixel peeping

it truly is remarkable and knowing I can get a higher dynamic range if I need it is nice, too
