I didn't think they needed to one-up for the K-3III either, I would have been happy with a mashup of the K-3II and KP. But they decided to do the new viewfinder, which added an extra two years to the schedule and doubled the price.I don't think the K-1iii needs to "one-up" the K-3iii... all it needs to do is up the K1-ii... and with the K3iii upgrades included, a K-1iii more than "one-ups" the K-1ii... it "three-ups" it at least!That's a no brainer. But they probably won't bother until they can find a way to one-up the K-3III, so don't expect it any time soon.Can't say I know what Pentax' next move will be (spoiler... they haven't told me yet!)... But what I would love to see on the DSLR body front is the following lineup:
K-1iii (incorporating K-3iii improvements);![]()
It's too bad we don't each have our own personal camera company, building exactly what we want.It would be great if it did happen. I would buy one without blinking! And the "s" designation may have indicated no AA filter back then, but the 's' stood for "special" ... or in my new parlance "gps"That would be really nice, but realistically it's not going to happen. And the original "s" designation meant the lack of AA filter, it would be confusing to repurpose it now.K-5iii (incorporating most of K-3iii improvements - 24mp, fully articulating screen) and K-5iiis (same as K-5iii but with GPS replacing pop up flash); and![]()
Not too late for you, too late for them. When they had a gap in the lineup, they had an opportunity to redo the 60-250. Now that the gap is filled, the chances of a new 60-250 are about as close to zero as you can imagine.Never too late. I would still look favourably at getting one, whenever they lease it... 3:15PM WST Thursday next week is good with me (I checked my calendar and its clear).Yes, that's what they should have done instead of the 70-210. Too late now.On the lens front:
updated DA*60-250 F/4 (with PLM);
For sure it would be more expensive than the DA 300.If it costs equal to or less than the $3,679 AUD price tag of the DFA 150-450... It's not too expensive :/That would be really interesting. Probably too expensive for most though.DFA* 70-300 F/4 PLM with (in-built selectable x1.4TC ); and
Wasn't the 18-270 designed by Tamron? That just adds to the certainty if they couldn't do it without help.I have a great Pentax 15x zoom in my bag (18-270)... 10x is only somewhere in between that, and the 5.45x zoom of the fantastic 55-300 PLM... of course they have the ability.Has Pentax shown any ability yet to do a high quality 10x zoom? Maybe they could if they put their minds to it, but it's not something I would expect.DA 55-550 F4.5-6.3 AW (with PLM or SDM).![]()
