ADVERTS!!!

I'm not seeing any ads on PC or Phone browser. Is this happening to everyone else ?
sounds like you are using ad-evasion browsers.
I haven't noticed any ads mixed in with the forum posts...

on some other "supposedly" tech orientated baords I've seen lots of them, cleverly writen to look like a technical post. I don't visit those boards anymore
I had them the other day on my mobile device until I updated my browser. These ads - as you must have noticed in the example screen grabs above - are not subtle.

FWIW I am mostly using Brave on PC and mobile. With the mobile version I can easily make a bookmark icon to the phone desktop so its one click to review this and other forums so I like it. I guess other browsers do this.

I will test this forum with Chrome or others and see what happens. There could be other things at work, like older accounts don't have show ads enabled or similar.

I can see from the screen shots its pretty pervasive (maybe invasive)

Brave browser 'automatically blocks online advertisements' - that's why you are not seeing them

I tried Edge and Chrome, Firefox and Opera still don't see the ads. Its possible Brave's ad blocker works on the PC for other browsers, although I'd doubt it.

I do have a Pi-Hole DNS installation but the ad blocker part is not in enabled right now.

Very odd, do you see the ads ?

Why are there suddenly so many adverts on this forum?

Enough to make me want to delete my account!
Try Opera-webbrowser; it has an adblocker included, so you don't even have to install an add-on.

If i disable ad blocker yes.
I disabled the ad blocker(s) on a number of browsers on multiple devices and still don't see the ads. :-)

That’s so weird, they are all over this thread. There are 2 on this page alone 🤷‍♀️

Do yourself a favor, install an adblocker and be done with it.

and i didn't see any screen shots posted...

PS - for queries like this, there is a specific forum: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/5001

Maybe a mod can move it to there, as this really has nothing to do with Ricoh-cameras.

The recent uptick in advertisements is indeed annoying, but must be of some profitable use to the websites. It would be nice, however, if the AI driving the ad selections could be improved. Most of the ads I see are completely uninteresting to me. For a while, I was seeing ads for used dental instrument cleaning machines. I am not a dentist, nor do I have any peculiar interest in dentistry. One positive is that I now know there is some sort of market for used dental instrument cleaning machines...

Instagram is the worst, where every 3rd post is really an ad (or "sponsored" as they call it). Takes all the fun out of browsing. Lots of drug ads right now. Is everyone on drugs?

Maybe DPReview could do what some other forum sites are doing - offer a modest subscription fee in exchange for no ads. Then, the choice is up to you.
