There were wished to slow down the pace of new "Your favorite" threads. There were also wished for M-mount and M39-mount threads. I separate them into two different threads launched at the same time. So this thread is for your favorite M-mount lenses.
  • If you where to build a small balanced lens system with M-mount manual focus lenses from wide to tele, which ones would you include?
  • Which M-mount manual focus lens is a must have, no matter focal length or price?
  • Which M-mount manual focus lens should be avoided?

I have an additional question: If I would like just one as low cost as possible lens that has the Leica name on it and also gives the Leica look and use it on Sony FF, which one would that be?

Thanks!

A very high quality small lens set, also not too expensive for what it is:
  • Voigtlander Nokton 1.4/21 (Ok, this is big for an M-mount lens, but small for an f1.4 wide angle)
  • Voigtlander Apo-Lanthar 2/35
  • Zeiss C Sonnar 1.5/50 ZM or Planar 2/50 ZM
  • Zeiss Tele-Tessar 4/85 or Voigtlander Apo-Skopar 2.8/90
  • Leica Tele-Elmar 4/135
A distinct advantage is that all work well on thicker cover glass sensors, such as in the Canon RF cameras. Common wisdom is that only wide angle lenses can be problematic but I found that the otherwise phenomenal Voigtlander Apo-Lanthar 2/50 is not so good on the Canon R5. On the other hand, the Nokton 1.4/21 is perfectly good on it.

The Tele-Elmar 4/135 is one of the best vintage 135mm lenses and it is surprisingly affordable.
