A Fujifilm Camera For Everyone! :-)

Everytime Fuji releases a new camera i feel more and more alienated, vloggers already have their cameras, why cant the rest of us have options too?
Fujifilm X100 and X-Pro series will continues target for stills photography.

That's why it more expensive than other model (e.g. X-E4).
Thought (X100 & X-Pro series) was more expensive than other models due to the OVF

Well dont get me started on the xpro3s screen...

Fuji had the best hybrid screens with the xt2, 3 and xh1. Great for videographers and great for photographers.

Different consumer has vary needs.

Many videographer want FAS, Fujifilm hear their voice.

Current issue is where is stills photography oriented camera with Fuji retro dials + two pivoting screen (like X-T2)?

Where is X-T40, X-E3S with existing dials, pocketable stills camera XF20/X80?

And many videographers don't want FAS, so I'm merely saying that fuji certainly isn't offering something for everyone. So many overlapping cameras

....

What I'm wondering right now is what the heck will the XH2 have that the XT5 won't, and vice versa? Things are going to get really interesting.
I sincerely doubt things are going to get that interesting. Fuji appear to be shifting towards making everything quite dull, in fact.

PASM dial? Articulating screen? Large body? New lens designs devoid of character?

They've lost their 'first out of the gate' mirrorless advantage now that Sony, Nikon, and Canon have all caught up, and so their next target is to get as many content creators on board.

Almost everything is going to be made with a view to video from now on I suspect.

The X-T will keep the horrible articulating screen, and doubtless lose a few more buttons and dials, and keep pushing video only slightly less hard then the X-H2.

The only remotely 'interesting' camera will be the X-Pro series which they'll use to trial gimmicks like the awful 'no rear screen' idea on the X-Pro 3, claiming that it's the camera for 'real photographers'.

That's my 'worst case' expectation based on the last couple of years.

What I HOPE is that the X-T dumps the articulating screen, keeps all its dials, and shifts back towards being much more for photographers than videographers, whereas right now the X-T4 feels like it's more for videographers (until the X-H2 came along).

Another articulating screen for the video crowd and and a PASM dial and no mention of an X-T5. Looks like Fuji forgot what made them so popular. Might as well move up to Sony, Canon, or Nikon full-frame mirrorless. Personally, I bought a used Leica M8 today and put my Fuji gear up for sale.
I don't really see why you are being so dramatic about it.

Fujifilm will release an XT5, it just didn't happen to be at this summit.

Just because the XH2s is an action oriented camera with a UI that is designed to make it easier for action shooters, doesn't mean Fujifilm has abandoned their whole retro/tactile shooting philosophy. It will just no longer be in the X-H line.
I know right?

"Waaah they didn't give me exactly the news I demanded, so I'm selling the lot!"

Absolutely pathetic :D

IF you shoot Canon, they supply a floppy screen free!

With Fuji, its an option. There are so many models that the buyer chooses what they like.

H series is Hybrid, great stills now with the updates and great video.

Fuji will try and cater for all tastes.
They are not an option on two out of their three main professional-level APS-C cameras (X-T4, X-H2, X-Pro 3) . And the X-Pro 3 has frankly the stupidest gimmick screen I've ever seen - thought it would be cool, it's not cool at all, it's effing useless in the heat of battle at a wedding or event.

Just gonna have to eke as much life out of the vastly superior screen on the X-T3 for as long as I can. Because, I don't think it's coming back in the X-T5.

The H series is Hybrid...a stills and moving pictures device.

When the H1 was released they said that they were requested to make a body "like a Dslr"...so they satisfied that group demand. The negative was it came at the end of Trans 3 instead of having the Trans4 stuff in it.Buyers knew the T3 was due and rather than have what the T2 had, they waited.

H series was always intended to be topDog in the kennel hence 2 variations.

The H2s is far from dull, it redefines top end crop bodies.Out doing some FF of the same price.

Your pet T5 will come as will other body styles, they always do.

It is, and in the case of the X100, the built in ND, leaf shutter, built in lens….. but that matters not to certain people, because it doesn’t suit the point they are trying to make.

Thx for these comments that I enterely share.... XH2S... for "the happy (rich) few " ??

if I was to make a guess, the XH2 will have the same body as XH2s and have that 40mp sensor. This will keep costs down and allow better economies of scale

the XT5 will retain that traditional X-T styling and have slightly lower (but similar) specs to XH2. The differentiation, being the XT5 will be more tactile and appeal to long time Fuji users.
What you are saying about the XT5 losing its DNA doesn’t make sense because, if they do that, the camera is then no different to the XH2

and I know you want the XT5 to be a photographers camera, but you need to recognise where the market is going. There is a shift to video as the primary medium everywhere. It would be bad business to neglect that large and growing market in a high/medium end camera like the XT5. No one wants to pay $1500-2000 for a crippled video camera that has amazing photo specs

Us photographers are a vocal minority and have to accept hybrid cameras are the way of the future.

I don't see the body of the XH2 being different from the body of the XH2S. It would not be efficient. So, it will most likely have the vary angle screen and PSAM dial. What we know from the X Summit event is that the XH2 will have a non-stacked 40 mp sensor.

"S" means stacked - sports - top AF

"R" means resolution - this is what they said.

So, the corollary is that the XH2 will be the high res version, but without the stacked sensor, it's AF and video wizardry will be on the more "normal" side.

i was at one stage contemplating getting another X-T3 as a “backup” but that’s just hoarding 😅

With the decisions fuji is making lately, I really hope my X-pro 2 and x-t2 keep chugging along. As a stills only person, no new body has really caught my eye.

hopefully for the x-pro 4 they ditch the gimmick screen of the 3 and put in the new 40mp sensor.

May be X-Pro 4 learn from Leica M10-D, completely drop rear LCD screen, only leave sub-monitor for display basic info. This maximize product segmentation.

They make diff type of cameras. X series is all-rounder. Design, handling, OVF, controls are great 👍👍

Let’s not give Fuji any silly ideas hey, they are already good enough at doing that without our help.

3 way tilt on the X-Pro please, it’s never a bad thing.

I have doubts about that, but if Fuji does that then that means I will be using XT3 bodies for a very long time, or buy something else. Perhaps I will jump to Panasonic in the near future, or get a Pentax K1III if that ever happens. Who knows. All I know is that I ain't getting no flippy screen.

Then the next question is, if Fuji also changed the XH2 to the point that I won't like it, then that will clearly mean that the XT line of cameras will stay as my preferred body style. What I'm wondering right now is what the heck will the XH2 have that the XT5 won't, and vice versa? Things are going to get really interesting.
I suspect that the X-H2 will just be a high-res version of the X-H2S without the video features that require the stacked sensor; so same body style and PASM dial. The X-T5 will likely be a retro version of the X-H2, with a non-stacked and unknown-resolution sensor. Hopefully it will get the X-T3 or GFX50S2 screen.
