EOS750D Mirror, something is broken in Live View, what should I do?

Hi All,

When I switch to Live View on my EOS750D I get a diagonal black area. The cause is something on the mirror lockup by the looks of it.

Does anyone know what this part is called, and how I should go about fixing it or getting it fixed?

I am very technically minded (computer hardware geek) so don't mind having a go myself if it's going to cost as much as a new camera to get it fixed by Canon.

Thanks in advance,

John

One of your shutter blades is broken. You will need to send it to a repair location or Canon themselves. You can contact Canon through email from their webpage.

I've sent it off to Fixation UK to get a new shutter. It's still a great camera in great condition, and I have loads of lenses and accessories for it, so the £180 or so cost is well worth it I think.

Meanwhile I'm also about to order an R3 and several RF lenses!

That's great. I'm glad to hear you have decided to repair the camera and get some additional cameras and lenses too. I like having extra gear also, especially if one breaks or is lost etc., then we have a backup plan.

I just got the quote back and accepted it, not bad at all really :-)
