How much light do you lose using the 1.4 or 2x TCs on the 40-150 pro?

In an ideal world I would like the 300mm pro but I don't think I would use it enough the justify the cost. When using the TCs on the 40-150 what does it stop you down to?

Yeah it's 1 or 2 stops. You can simply multiply both the focal length and the aperture with 1.4 or 2 according to the TC used. Good point about sharpness by @Skeeterbytes: In practice you may need to stop down the lens, so it could be 2 or 3 stops or even more if care for detail.

One stop for the 1.4x and 2 stops for the 2x.

I don't think the 2x is worth it on the 40-150mm F2.8.

If you shoot wide open with and without the MC14, cropping the same view from the centre has a small amount more detail using the MC14. It degrades the edges quite a bit, but that probably doesn’t matter when shooting wide open.

May be copy dependent, but that’s how mine perform together.

I use a 2x teleconverter, and the 2.8 lens would probably be like a f4 lens in character, based on my findings of using a teleconverter,

I did eventually did get a lens to replace that teleconverter, but it is oh so heavy.
