Playing around with my new GR3x, made a bunch of custom settings, just found that the Auto function for the ND Filter (Camera icon, 2nd menu) is no longer there. I only have "On" and "Off."

I'm not in video mode or anything funky like that. I do have the latest firmware.

Any ideas?

I was concerned that the lastest firmware may have removed it from my GR III (Street) but it is still there.

I hope someone with an X can help you.

Page 86 of the manual.
I read that page before I posted. It doesn't provide any information about why the Auto option would have completely disappeared, nor why it re-appeared when I performed a reset of the camera functions (pages 26 AND 42 according to the index, but really just page 26 in real life.)

Ok. sorry it just seemed to be evidence that the option had not been removed from the griiix. Sounds like one of life's unsolveable mysteries. Glad you got it sorted out.

Sunnava... happened again, no real understanding of what caused it, so I think I am going to have to open a support case with Ricoh.

But for anyone with the same issue, doing a "Reset" of the "Camera" icon brings the auto option back.

Hmmm, just wondering... is there any other setting that you are changing that would cause this option to disappear? I don't know, would AutoISO affect it?

I have seen this type of behaviour before on other cameras, e.g., if you have focus peaking on the live histogram is disabled, etc.

That would be my guess, but I don't know what settings I would be changing that would be causing this. I keep most of them the same, bounce around between matrix and metered mode, and sometimes image style, and playing around with snap priority, but other than that? The manual is less than helpful regarding this.

I do have a support request in to Ricoh. Will update this thread if they have a solution.

OK. Wait for a cold wet day. Grab a glass/bottle of wine and have a seat. Reset the camera. Confirm that the ND filter Auto option is there. Change one setting. Recheck for the Auto option. Repeat until the cause is found or the wine is gone. :-)
