....yes, a discussion of Greek tragedies....I was surprised by their power and effect on me.

I went to see them as a lark...but I was wrong...they were Great Plays, and as noted by many, maybe the Bacchae is the greatest play ever, ancient or contemporary.

I would be curious as to your view as to this and as to Philoctetes, by Sophocles.

(you read them in Greek?!? Kudos, I have trouble in English....{grin....but true})

Best Wishes, Traveller

Probably as close as I'll ever get to one of these.

Thanks Traveller. Sorry for the delay in responding. It's been a busy few days. I responded to your comment. I read quite a bit in Greek as a student. My Greek is very rusty now, though. I switched from classics to philosophy when I went to graduate school, and specialize in contemporary ethics, which is pretty much all written in English.

...you do seem to spend a lot of time on the water...hummm...lol...are you a pirate per chance?

Arghhh! I've taken a few cruises (including one that began and ended from that French port). The picture of Eclipse was taken during our December 2019 cruise, shortly before everything was put on hold. The image below is from our July 2021 cruise, when tentative steps were being taken.

I was looking at the details of the photos in the challenge and noticed four entries that are over 512 KB and one was over 1 Meg. Might want to look over your entries and adjust the sizes as needed since we want to stay on the good side of our most gracious host. Paul
