I am stumped. For some reason my FZ 1000 initiates a video recording when I half press the shutter. Release and repress stops video. In all modes, all AF modes. Sometimes changing a setting will fix the problem for an image or two but then right back to video. Really frustrating as I do mainly stills.
I’ve gone through every setting even toggling some to see if it could change it but no luck.
any help would greatly be appreciated as I’m on a trip currently and would love my camera back.
thanks

You could try a total Reset after removing the battery for a minute or so.

Just tried that. Was hopeful as it worked for a few shots now oddly is intermittent. Whereas before it was only movie.
Will try the procedure again. Fingers crossed

thanks

Make sure the battery is good, and fully charged.

Thanks.
tried resetting a couple of times but no luck.
I was shooting in a bit of rain and we’re in a pretty humid environment so I thought I’d try putting the camera in a bag with rice, filling with AC air and sealing it up for a bit.
I’ve had it in rain before with no problems but thought it’d be worth a try. The intermittent nature of it seems odd. Factory reset and intermittent trouble. The one thing I didn’t try is not moving the camera. I was moving it around shooting different parts of the room.
thanks for your speedy answers Fred.
if anyone else has an idea of what’s going on, please chime in.
Thanks again Fred

Drying it out didn’t fix it. When I return from my trip how can I get this fixed? Do I send it sonewhere? Any chance a firmware reload would work? I’ve just never needed to get a camera fixed. Guess I’ve been lucky.

When you said you tried resetting did you do that from the menu (reset to factory settings) or just by pulling the battery for a while?

If factory reset does not fix it there might be a short inside from the moisture. Is the video button close to the shutter. If there is corrosion inside, the signals might get mixed up. I think you can reassign the video record button to some other function. Try to do that and see if the pressing the shutter will trigger that function. This will confirm 100% that there is a corrosion problem. You could try spraying some electronic cleaner on the shutter and video buttons and let is soak to hopefully dissolve the short if that what the problem is.

Good luck.
